In September 2022, Adam Bauer filed a lawsuit against Anzalone along with other correctional officers. According to the report, he claimed that he was brutally attacked without cause, when he smoked a cigarette in a bathroom back in 2020.

According to the plaintiff’s assertion, he consented to a search following his possession of prohibited items. However, it is alleged that after turning away, he was repeatedly struck by the officer, as reported by the source.

As per the publication’s article, the lawsuit claims that after the first encounter, many officers, including Anzalone, either kicked him or stood by as witnessed their co-workers do so.

Later on, Bauer is said to have stated that the officers transported him to a nearby medical facility where Anzalone supposedly struck his legs. Furthermore, he asserted that those involved in the event concealed it by feeding false information to staff at the hospital.

Based on reports from TMZ, Sergeant Glenn Trombly has encountered two legal disputes. One of these cases took place in the year 2020. In this instance, he was accused by an individual named Caleb Bause for allegedly being sprayed with pepper spray by a guard without any prior provocation.

According to the plaintiff’s claim, he ran towards the dormitory area, but an officer instructed him to go into a vestibule instead. When additional correctional officers arrived at the scene, the plaintiff asserted that the initial officer informed them that he had been physically attacked by Bause.

In my line of work, I have come across numerous instances where law enforcement personnel choose to remain silent or look the other way during acts of brutality. While it’s essential to acknowledge that not all officers are complicit in such actions, it’s also important to hold those who do stand idly by accountable for their inaction. It’s a complex issue that requires thorough investigation and transparency to determine the extent of each officer’s involvement. However, based on my observations, I wouldn’t be shocked if Trombly and Farina were among those officers who chose not to intervene or report the incident.

Based on my personal observations and the information presented, it appears that Equarn White, who was incarcerated at Green Haven Correctional Facility in 2015, has filed a lawsuit against Trombly in 2018. The lawsuit, as reported, alleges that prior to Trombly’s transfer to Marcy Correctional Facility, where an incident involving Brooks occurred, he was at Green Haven, where White was incarcerated. This suggests a potential history of tension or conflict between the two parties, which may have escalated into the incident in question. It is essential for correctional staff to maintain professionalism and de-escalate conflicts whenever possible to ensure the safety and well-being of both inmates and staff members. In my experience, such incidents can often be avoided through clear communication, empathy, and a thorough understanding of the unique challenges faced by inmates and staff within the correctional system.

According to the plaintiff, he asserted that Trombly, along with several other officers, allegedly attacked him in an unoccupied classroom. Furthermore, he alleged that another officer repeatedly kicked him in the groin area while Trombly kept him restrained.

For those unfamiliar, Brooks, who was cuffed when the alleged assault occurred, tragically passed away on December 10 at Wynn Hospital in Utica, as reported by Attorney General Letitia James and confirmed by CNN.
