As a lifestyle expert with an eye for behind-the-scenes stories and a deep appreciation for the intricacies of Hollywood, it’s fascinating to learn about Donald Trump‘s unexpected foray into acting. It seems that his business acumen extended far beyond real estate deals, reaching even the silver screen. The way he leveraged his properties for roles in various films, including Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, is a testament to his unique approach to negotiations.
In the family comedy “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York,” you might recall Donald Trump appearing. But, you may wonder, how did he get that role? It turned out that Matt Damon, who played Oppenheimer, once shared that Trump would negotiate with filmmakers to secure roles not only in “Home Alone 2” but also in several other films.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter in 2017, Matt Damon stated that Donald Trump required the movie crew to include him in their production by writing him a role for their project, in order to allow them to film sequences within his hotels.
According to the actor from The Instigators, he mentioned to the media outlet that in order to film inside one of his buildings, it was necessary to include him in the script.
Later on, he also pointed out that Martin Brest, the director of Scent of a Woman, went so far as to hire an entire team exclusively to pen a scene for Trump.
In the 1992 drama film, the actor noted that a scene features Donald Trump entering, to which Al Pacino responded with a friendly greeting: “Hello, Mr. Trump!
In a different phrasing, Matt Damon (the actor from Good Will Hunting) pointed out that the team behind the scenes spent effort composing a particular shot, only for it to ultimately be excluded from the final cut of the film. Conversely, the scene from Home Alone 2 remained intact.
Referring to the outlet, the actor who starred in Saving Private Ryan stated that he has not had a personal encounter with Donald Trump.
Matt Damon will soon appear in another movie directed by Christopher Nolan, a director he’s collaborated with twice before. Their first project together was the 2014 release, Interstellar, and more recently, they worked on the 2023 film featuring Cillian Murphy.
