Costume Guide – Masquerade Bunny Celia (limited rerun)

Exclusive Gear

Overview

As a seasoned player who’s been grinding through countless battles and bosses since the game’s early days, I can confidently say that MB Celia is truly a game-changer when it comes to amplifying AOE damage in fiend bosses and guild raids. Her unique ability to stack chains makes her an essential unit for anyone serious about progressing through these challenging game modes.

Unique chain-stacking mechanic that can amplify your AOE damage significantly.

An essential costume to make good use of other Celia costumes

Low investment requirement: +1 no potential works fine most of the time

Requires Celia’s other costumes to use effectively

Insufficiently Active on the First Round: Requires at least one round for setup (primarily useful in fiend hunts and guild raids)

Own damage is poor, even with potential upgrades

Base stats and damage

Let’s start by looking at Celia’s base stats generally.

In comparison to other Magic attackers such as Eclipse, Dalvi, Venaka, Schera, and others, Celia exhibits relatively weaker attacking capabilities. Her Magic Attack (M.ATK) stands at 275, which is significantly lower than their respective stats: Eclipse (308), Dalvi (352), Venaka (363), and Schera (385). Moreover, her skill damage multipliers are on the lower side, and her unique gear bonus stat primarily enhances Critical Rate instead of M.ATK or Critical Damage. Thus, it can be inferred that Celia is more adept at providing support rather than dealing primary damage.

Given the circumstances, it might not be crucial to spend your valuable resources on enhancing MB.Celia’s improvements, as even at maximum enhancement (+5), she only deals 3 times her base attack power (125% and 160%) which, considering Celia’s low base M.ATK, may not make a substantial difference in terms of damage output.

Amplifying AOE team damage

MB Celia has a unique skill which doubles the chain stacks on her own hits for 2-3 player turns.

For each chain stack, damage on the same target is increased by 10% on the next hit. For example, if you play MB.Celia first, she stacks 2×3 = 6 chains on the enemy. Your next attacker after Celia will then do 1.6x of normal damage against that enemy.

When you initially play with MB.Celia, the six chain stacks she generates from her skill aren’t particularly remarkable. There are numerous powerful attackers who possess multi-hit Area of Effect skills for piling up chains, for example, Magic School Professor Schera (five hits), Empress Rubia (six hits), and Sage Olstein (seven hits). These examples merely scratch the surface.

On your second turn is where things really take off. Curse Celia’s skill has 7 hits, but with MB.Celia’s skill this doubles to 14 chain stacks, i.e. the next hit does 2.4x damage. This is very high, and comparable with some of the best buffers in the game. To compare with other buffers:

  • BA.Teresse: 3.0x damage (100% + 200%)
  • H.Lathel: 2.6x damage (100% + 160%)
  • AOTU.Diana: around 2.47x (Normally strong element does 150% without potential, Diana increases strong element damage to 370%, therefore the effective boost from baseline is 370%/150%= 247%)

Despite the fact that Celia’s buff appears less potent when comparing raw numbers to other buffers mentioned earlier, it remains crucial to include Celia in your team. The reason being, a combination of diverse types of buffs is key to inflicting maximum damage. For instance, BA.Teresse enhances overall damage, H.Lathel boosts ATK, AOTU.Diana increases property damage, but it’s only Celia who can deliver such substantial Area-of-Effect chained damage. Therefore, if your goal is to excel in fiend hunts and guild raids, having Celia as part of your buffer lineup becomes indispensable.

Keep in mind that when your MB Celia is level 4 or greater, the chain stacking ability will persist for an additional turn, specifically during your third turn. This means you can play Descendant Celia, who deals double damage (2x normal damage) due to her 5 hits creating 10 chain stacks, which increases the power of the next hit.

Interaction with PWB.Refi

Refithea, the Immaculate Bride in Dazzling White, additionally possesses a skill that duplicates linked buffs. This trait synergizes with MB.Celia, yet their effects cumulatively increase, rather than amplifying one another.

When both MB.Celia and PWB.Refi are active on Curse Celia, you won’t get 28 chain stacks, but only 21 instead.

Single target comparison

When it comes to single target chain damage amplification, Celia is not the best.

Robin Hood Zenith’s ability, devoid of a cooldown, strikes six times in succession and boosts damage by 100% at maximum potential. When combined with the chain damage effect and the next attacker’s damage amplification skill, this translates to the following attacker dealing approximately 3.2 times the damage to the target. With PWB.Refi’s buff, the subsequent attacker would deal around 4.4 times the damage instead. This ability significantly surpasses Celia in terms of single-target performance.

In a head-to-head comparison against Celia, Hikage surpasses her in dealing with single targets. When fortified by PWB.Refi, Hikage generates 24 chain stacks, whereas Curse Celia produces only 21 chains under the same buff.

Therefore, Celia’s niche is AOE chain damage. She is not the best when it comes to single targets.

SP cost

One important consideration about using MB.Celia is her huge SP cost compared to traditional supporters. Depending on your Celia costume levels, Celia’s combos cost a total of 7-9 SP over two turns, or 11-13 SP over 3 turns, and that’s not counting any SP you spend on the rest of your team. Veteran players may find that MB.Celia’s high SP cost is less of a problem if they have many high level costumes (i.e. reduced SP costs), but for beginner players the high SP cost can be prohibitive.

Game modes

MB.Celia primarily excels when her chain ability is activated, making her most effective during fiend hunts and guild raids.

In the majority of monster hunts and guild battles, you deal minimal damage during the early rounds, but significant damage only on specific “explosive” turns. As a result, maintaining an enhancement level of +1 for MB.Celia is usually adequate: just prepare MB.Celia before the major explosive turn, then use Curse Celia on that turn.

Investing in increasing Celia’s level by 4 will prolong the duration of her chain buff by an additional turn. This means you can utilize Descendant Celia to build up to 10 chains (rather than just 5) during that extended buff period. While having those extra 5 chains may seem appealing, it takes three costume level increases to get from +1 to +4, which is a significant investment for only a slight increase in damage output.

Conclusion

Let’s be clear: MB Celia is a robust character, which only increases her appeal as a desirable addition to your team. If you can cover her SP cost, she excels at boosting area-of-effect damage in fiend battles and guild raids, but her effectiveness is somewhat limited beyond these specific game modes.

Because the character only has a single outfit available, it’s hard to resist purchasing her items while they’re still on sale, as she won’t be offered again for at least another year. From a gameplay standpoint, increasing her level by one offers good value, but any additional investment beyond that is largely unnecessary luxury.
