As a dedicated fan who has read and cherished Colleen Hoover’s novels for years, her recent show of support for Blake Lively in the face of sexual harassment allegations against Justin Baldoni has left me deeply moved. Her words echo the sentiments of many who have been inspired by Lively’s portrayal of a woman escaping an abusive relationship in “It Ends With Us.
Author Colleen Hoover has voiced her public support for actress Blake Lively after she filed a lawsuit alleging sexual harassment by co-star and director Justin Baldoni. On Saturday, Hoover shared an Instagram post featuring a photo of them together at the premiere of a film based on one of Hoover’s novels (see below), expressing her solidarity with Lively.
In her post, Hoover commended Lively for her honesty, kindness, supportiveness, and patience since they first met. She expressed gratitude towards Lively for being who she is and encouraged her to keep the same qualities, suggesting she should not change or lose her strength. Additionally, Hoover shared a link to a New York Times article that outlines Lively’s substantial accusations against Baldoni.
In the movie titled “It Ends With Us“, Emily (Lively) portrayed Lily Bloom, a character trapped in an abusive relationship. John (Baldoni), who acted as Ryle Kincaid and directed the film, is alleged by Lively to have crossed professional boundaries during production. However, Lively alleges that Baldoni’s behavior on set exceeded what was acceptable for a professional environment.
As stated in a lawsuit filed by Lively, Baldoni allegedly subjected her, along with other cast and crew members, to inappropriate, uncomfortable, unprofessional, and sexually suggestive conduct. Furthermore, Lively asserted that Baldoni and producer Jamey Heath failed to address complaints lodged against them regarding their behavior, since they held significant positions within the production team.
After the incident happened, this is what Hoover posted:
USA TODAY obtained a lively complaint detailing numerous distressing accusations made by Lively. According to her, Baldoni crossed boundaries by participating in unwanted physical interactions and staging intimate scenes without her approval.
Additionally, there are reports that he apparently posed invasive queries regarding her private intimate relationships, shared details of his own battles with compulsive pornography use, and implied that he had been involved in unwanted sexual activities in the past.
In January, it’s said that Lively and Baldoni, together with others, convened a meeting to address concerns about an allegedly uncomfortable work atmosphere on set. It was rumored that they decided that Baldoni and Heath would abstain from any inappropriate physical interactions or sharing of explicit content with Lively and her team members moving forward.
However, the complaint asserts that things only worsened after this conversation.
vivacious asserts that following her voicing worries, Baldoni and the team at his studio, Wayfarer Productions, responded with a counterattack through a public relations offensive against her.
She thinks it was an effort to tarnish her image and scare her into not speaking up. The report mentions that Baldoni’s group wanted to discredit Lively and convey that discussing such conduct could lead to severe repercussions.
As a devoted fan, I found myself intrigued by a matter brought up in the criticism concerning Blake Lively and Tyler Hoechlin’s relationship following the film’s premiere. It was noted that they didn’t jointly publicize the movie, and surprisingly, neither Blake nor Taylor nor the rest of the cast chose to follow Tyler on Instagram, despite him following them.
The suggestion is that this situation might point towards some strain in their relationship, but neither Lively nor Hoover have openly acknowledged it yet in public.
Via his attorney Bryan Freedman, Baldoni has refuted Lively’s assertions. According to the lawyer, these claims are entirely false, excessively provocative, and deliberately scandalous. The statement from the attorney underscores that Baldoni and the production company will take legal measures to safeguard their reputation and contest the accusations.
Lively’s forthcoming legal move sets the stage for a potential lawsuit, intending to make Baldoni and his companions answer for their conduct. The actress has received negative feedback from those linked to Baldoni and professionals in the field, but Hoover’s Instagram post underscores that she stands solidly behind Lively.
The movie version of “It Ends With Us” earned $148.5 million in North America, but no definitive news has been shared regarding whether its sequel, “It Starts With Us“, will be made into a film. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the project’s production, author Hoovers’ support of Lively is noteworthy, given the gravity of the accusations against her.
As the legal proceedings continue, Hoover’s open display of support for Lively underscores a firm stance on combating unacceptable conduct in the work environment.
