As an ardent fan of Stranger Things since its inception, I can’t help but feel a profound sense of nostalgia and bittersweetness as we bid farewell to this extraordinary show. The journey of Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) and Will Byers (Noah Schnapp) from the goofy youngsters of Hawkins to the breakout stars they are today has been nothing short of phenomenal.
Production on Stranger Things concluded following the filming of its fifth and last season! On December 10th, Netflix confirmed this news and posted a series of photos from the sets. The cast members have also been expressing heartfelt goodbyes to the show, which propelled them into stardom.
Finn Wolfhard recently posted some snapshots from Instagram featuring the cast, including an old picture reminiscent of season one. In his caption, he expressed his disbelief saying, “We’ve finished filming Stranger Things Season 5.” He further mentioned that despite having worked on it for a whole year, he will deeply miss his friends and the characters we all came to love.
He recalled how they were a “bunch of goofy young people” when the show first started and had no idea it would become a phenomenon. “I feel like we’re still those people, and I’m lucky to still stand beside them today,” the actor added.
Actor Finn Wolfhard, who starred in The Ghostbusters: Afterlife, expresses his hope that the final season receives as much affection from the audience as the previous ones did. When he initially joined the series at age 13, he played Mike Wheeler, one of the main characters.
Noah Schnapp, who has portrayed Will Byers since the series’ debut, also posted an emotional farewell to the show upon its ending. He reminisced about the past 10 years with Stranger Things, noting that it taught him some crucial life and career lessons. In particular, he remembered filming his final scene as Will and experiencing strong emotions.
In a heartfelt message, he specifically acknowledged his co-stars Finn Wolfhard, Winona Ryder, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Sadie Sink, Charlie Heaton, and the Duffer brothers, sharing insights about the valuable lessons he gained from each of them.
As a child, I often felt like a square peg in a round hole, struggling to find my niche among my peers. However, as I navigate through life under the spotlight, I am grateful for the opportunity to walk this path alongside such extraordinary companions. They have been nothing short of incredible throughout our shared journey.
He declared the Netflix series as the realization of a long-held aspiration and expressed gratitude towards the creators for bestowing him with such an opportunity. In a post, he shared that alongside the cast and crew, they had collectively crafted something incredibly unique, and he couldn’t be more eager for everyone to witness the conclusion. Furthermore, he mentioned that this show would hold a special place in his heart forever.
Stranger Things season 5 will premiere on Netflix in 2025.
