Jennifer Grey Recalls Having THIS Doubt Amid Signing Dirty Dancing; Says ‘It Was Kind Of Little Risky’

As a passionate admirer of both Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze, I have always been captivated by their extraordinary chemistry on screen, particularly in the iconic film Dirty Dancing. Hearing about Grey’s initial doubts and apprehensions before taking on the role only adds to the movie’s allure for me.

As a lifestyle expert, I find myself captivated by the undeniable chemistry between Jennifer Grey and Patrick Swayze in the iconic movie “Dirty Dancing.” Over time, this timeless masterpiece has transcended generations, earning itself a place among the cult classics. Interestingly enough, behind the scenes, the actress herself harbored some reservations about taking on such a pivotal role. Yet, she bravely decided to roll the dice, and we’re all better off for it.

During a chat with Scott Feinberg on The Hollywood Reporter’s Award Chatter Podcast, Grey shared her story of waiting in her agent’s office prior to the film, as she listened to the narration of the motion picture.

Speaking about the 1987 movie that Emile Ardolino directed, the actress who played Real Pain recalled, “I can still remember being at my agent’s office, reading the script and thinking, ‘I must land this role.’

She went on to state that her curiosity peaked significantly when she learned it was a modestly funded film. The production spent approximately $4.5 million, and Grey received $50,000 from this amount.

During their discussion, the actress admitted, “It was somewhat daring,” while Grey added, “It seemed to have an element of Dirty Dancing – the sex scenes are quite graphic with no financial reward for me or the film. Perhaps it’s more like an elaborately produced adult movie.

Despite harboring some uncertainties, the actress continued with her role since she was thrilled about collaborating with Ardolino.

In his remarks, the actor from Red Dawn noted that the director primarily focused on making documentaries, and the 1987 movie happened to be his debut work in this field.

The actress asserted that “He played a crucial role in making the film successful due to his sensitivity.” Furthermore, she expressed her confidence in his talent for portraying authenticity.

Additionally, Grey shared some past unease she had with her acting partner, Swayze. Previously, she had disclosed in an interview that the actor displayed unkind behavior towards her during the filming of Red Dawn.

In their discussion, the actress reminisced about a moment during the initial practice of the dance scene with the actor and the Hollywood star. At that time, he told her, “I’m sorry. I understand you don’t want me for this part, but just remember, I’ve always admired you.

Regarding her professional endeavors, Jennifer Grey is set to appear in two upcoming projects: “A Real Pain” alongside Keiran Culkin, and “Wish You Were Here,” which marks Julia Stiles’ directorial debut.
