‘She’s Very Privileged’: Ryan Reynolds And Blake Lively Get Slammed Over Their ‘Working Class’ Statement

As a lifelong fan of both Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively, I find myself torn between admiration for their success and a bit of disillusionment over this recent controversy. Having grown up in modest circumstances myself, I can relate to Reynolds’ sentiments about wanting his kids to have as normal a life as possible. However, the backlash they’ve received over their perceived “working-class” background seems a tad harsh, considering both of them are A-list celebrities who’ve been in Hollywood for years.

Online critics have been criticizing Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively following their remarks about representing “working-class” individuals, despite both having established careers in Hollywood for over a decade. The couple, who got married during their career peaks, are currently facing backlash from netizens.

In their recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor known for playing Deadpool and Wolverine discussed the contrast between the luxurious lifestyle of himself and his wife, who were raised in working-class environments, as they raise their four children together.

During an interview with the media, Reynolds expressed that he and his family strive to provide their kids with a regular, everyday kind of life. He also mentioned that he avoids making comparisons between their childhood experiences and his own, or his wife’s, childhood.

The actor persisted in expressing his contentious views by remarking, “Growing up, we were both from working-class families. When they were young, I often found myself thinking, ‘If I had been born earlier, I wouldn’t have had the talent like this,’ or ‘I wouldn’t have enjoyed the privilege of ordering takeout.’ And so on.

In the meantime, the remarks swiftly drew the focus of both fans and critics, who noted that, given her family’s background in showbusiness, it seemed implausible that the actress from It Ends With Us had experienced a middle-class upbringing.

In one social media post, a user stated, “A quick look-up reveals she spent her childhood in Tarzana and attended Burbank High. Her entire family was involved in the entertainment industry.” Another individual followed up by saying, “She landed a role in ‘The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants’ when she was still a teenager. This suggests at least a middle-class background. However, her current wealth and supposed arrogance make no difference to me. Farewell.

Another fan stated, “I thought Blake Lively was a nepo baby… she’s very privileged.”

Moving forward with future ventures, Reynolds is set to collaborate with Jason Momoa and Aubrey Plaza in a film titled Animal Friends. Previously, Blake Lively graced our screens in the successful movie It Ends With Us.
