Sarah Ferguson Opens Up About Her Equation With Queen Camilla; Says, ‘She Reminds Me Of Mum’

As a dedicated follower and observer of the Royal Family, I find Sarah Ferguson to be a remarkable figure who has navigated the complexities of her position with grace and resilience. Her ability to maintain relationships with various members of the family, despite ups and downs, is truly commendable.

Sarah Ferguson and Princess Diana had a strong friendship during their teenage years, both trying to navigate life within the Royal family. On many occasions, they were seen dining together or shopping, resembling the bond between sisters.

In a recent conversation with a media outlet, Sarah Ferguson, also known as the Duchess of York, discussed the need to maintain a good relationship with Queen Camilla following the death of Princess Diana. During an interview with The Sunday Times, she shared insights about her connections with both Princess Diana and Queen Camilla, despite the latter’s long-standing relationship with Prince Charles prior to Diana’s passing.

During a chat with the media outlet, Ferguson mentioned that she had known Camilla Parker Bowles even before her marriage to the monarch, as her mother and the Duchess were close friends prior. Regarding the public discourse about their relationship, she expressed, “Diana was my dearest friend since I was 14. That’s why it holds such significance that The Queen and I have a good rapport now.

In praise of Camilla’s role within the family, Ferguson stated, “It’s quite charming, and she has a strong resemblance to Mom. I hold her in high regard due to the exceptional support she’s providing our nation. I yearn for the opportunity to assist The Queen as much as possible; I only wish they would ask me to take on more responsibilities.

Despite finalizing her divorce from Prince Andrew in 1997, the Duchess has maintained a cordial relationship with the Duke, frequently joining him at royal events. On several occasions, Ferguson can be spotted sharing a friendly chuckle with the Queen.

In my own words, I’d say, “Back when dear Princess Di graced our world, there were periods of strain in our friendship that lasted for years leading up to her untimely demise. This is what I shared from my own experiences in my memoir published in 2011.

In her book Finding Sarah, one passage states, ‘Our friendship had its ups and downs. Regrettably, by the end of Diana’s life, we hadn’t spoken for a year, but I was never aware of the cause, other than that once Diana decided on something, it remained in her thoughts for some time.’

In the face of various highs and lows within the royal family, Sarah Ferguson has skillfully maintained positive connections with each member, simultaneously supporting her former spouse, Prince Andrew.
