Oh, my heart is racing like a Thriller-era Michael Jackson as I immerse myself in this tantalizing tale! As a die-hard fan who has spent countless hours studying every moonwalk, every glove flick, and every note of his music, this discovery feels like finding the Holy Grail of pop culture.
Michael Jackson’s influence as the “King of Pop” remains unforgettable, with news about him still captivating audiences even after his passing. An unexpected treasure trove – old cassette tapes and DAT recordings filled with previously unheard, unique music by him – was found when a former California Highway Patrol officer (now a home dad) stumbled upon them in an unused storage unit.
56-year-old Gregg Musgrove stumbled upon some recordings during what can be described as a search for hidden gems, after a friend informed him about an unpaid storage space in Van Nuys, California. This storage unit used to belong to music producer and singer Bryan Loren. Currently, Musgrove plans to auction off these tapes through a well-known auction house. At the moment, his lawyer is safeguarding the tapes.
As a connoisseur of popular culture, I’ve delved into every corner of the web where fans congregate. There are tunes that have been whispered about, and others that have made their way onto the internet, albeit partially. Remarkably, some songs haven’t even seen the light of day yet.
The undisclosed cassettes encompass 12 songs that Michael Jackson had initially not made public, which he recorded prior to the launch of his Dangerous album. Some of these recordings were whispered about and partially exposed, while others have remained totally under wraps. Musgrove found the process of hearing these tapes to be a mind-bending experience.
I’ve been captivated, hearing these unheard-of tunes, and let me tell you, the sensation is indescribable! No one has ever experienced this music before. To actually listen to Michael Jackson conversing, exchanging humorous banter – it was simply amazing, truly a unique and cool experience!
Among the recordings, one track titled Don’t Believe It reportedly addresses the rumors surrounding Jackson. Another track, Truth on Youth, is a rap duet between Jackson and LL Cool J. However, despite the excitement surrounding the discovery, it is unlikely that the tapes will ever be heard by the public.
Musgrove and his lawyer contacted the Jackson family about the tapes, who said these were just copies, not the original master recordings. They didn’t want to buy them and clarified that all rights to the recordings belong to Michael Jackson’s estate. Consequently, the tapes can’t be shared commercially.
