As someone who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of Japanese pop culture, I must say that this article has truly piqued my interest. The connection between Santa Claus and Ultraman is not something I would have expected to find, but it certainly adds an exciting twist to both these iconic figures.
It might come as a shock in North America, but Japan’s most popular superhero, Ultraman, has a soft spot for Christmas. When you ponder it over, their color schemes – red and white (or silver) – share a resemblance. They both spread joy and brightness across the globe. And while they don’t engage in traditional boxing matches, they do battle monstrous creatures from different dimensions. Interestingly enough, within the Ultraman universe, the character known as Father of Ultra, the Top Commander of the Inter Galactic Defense Force, is actually Santa Claus himself in disguise. Yes, it’s true!
To honor that peculiar bond, the main Ultraman English YouTube Channel is set to start a marathon of five Christmas-themed episodes from its 52-year-old series on December 18, 2024, at 6 p.m. Pacific Time/9 p.m. Eastern Time. Remarkably, Santa Claus or Father Ultra will be part of three of these episodes. Starting Wednesday, the marathon will continue daily until December 22. As an extra holiday gift, viewers can join The Holiday Special Watch Party, featuring special guest commentary, four additional episodes, and new Ultraman product unveilings on December 22. All episodes will be accessible to fans from December 22 through January 5, 2025.
This special watch party for “Ultraman” is called the Ultraman Holiday Special, and it will be hosted by the team from the fan community platform Ultraman Connection, along with some notable guests. These include Mike Dent from SHOUT Factory TokuSHOUTsu streaming channel, popular Ultraman artist Klenda Vee, Kyle Higgins who writes for Marvel’s “Ultraman X Avengers,” and Jamie Noguchi, an artist contributing to the Ultraman Card Game.
You might wonder which episodes are included, right? It’s an exciting variety drawn from different eras of Ultraman lore, each one brimming with festive spirit and monster combat that will surely bring joy to all viewers.
