His dedication to giving his kids as normal a life as possible is truly commendable, especially considering his high-profile status in Hollywood.

Ryan Reynolds shares a sincere perspective on how he and Blake Lively nurture their four kids away from the public eye, instilling compassion in their hearts. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on December 13, the 48-year-old actor openly discussed his desire to provide his children with as ordinary a life as possible.

The actor and author who plays Deadpool and Wolverine shared with an interview outlet that he strives not to compare his and his spouse’s working-class childhoods with the lives their children are now living. However, he acknowledged that he had made such comparisons earlier on. He recalled thinking or saying something like, “I never would have had this talent when I was a kid,” or “I wouldn’t have had the luxury of ordering takeout,” and so forth.

As per Reynolds, he wished to ensure that his children’s lives were not influenced by his upbringing in wealth and gratitude, recognizing that his personal traumas were not something they should bear.

In simpler terms, the versatile individual shared that fortunately, his children – James (9), Inez (8), Betty (5), and Olin – are well-grounded and appreciative, possessing a good grasp of the world which enables them to exhibit a high level of empathy. Regarding his parenting skills with Blake Lively, Reynolds modestly admitted he’s managing fairly well in raising their kids.

Reynolds openly discusses his experiences as a parent. Just recently, he shared with Andrew Garfield in their Variety’s Actors on Actors dialogue that one of the biggest challenges in his career, which includes filmmaking, is spending extended periods away from his family due to work commitments.

In that very interview, I shared my reservations about Deadpool 4, acknowledging that the extensive commitment required for acting and scriptwriting would potentially keep me away from my precious kids. I unequivocally stated that I have no intention of becoming a distant father to them.

He expressed that it feels almost painful for him to witness their events, be it a competition, a sporting event, or anything similar, if he happens to miss it.

In July 2024, the father of four playfully hinted that there might still be room for another child in their family with Lively. “The more, the better,” he expressed cheerfully.
