Lisa Kudrow Reveals She Was Moved to Tears by Phoebe’s Wedding Scene on Friends: ‘It Was Really Touching’

As someone who has spent countless hours immersed in the world of Friends and its characters, I must confess that witnessing Lisa Kudrow‘s heartfelt reaction to revisiting Phoebe Buffay’s wedding scene was nothing short of heartwarming. It’s fascinating to observe a seasoned actress like Kudrow, who brought Phoebe to life, finding new depth in her own performance years after the show’s initial airing.

Lisa Kudrow, the actress known for her role in Friends, has shared a particular scene from the show that brought tears to her eyes when she eventually watched it. After years of holding back, the actress who was part of the adored NBC sitcom’s six-member friends group, confessed on a podcast that she had only recently begun watching the series for the first time.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’d find it rather embarrassing if someone happened to stumble upon my home while I was engrossed in watching my own show. This jestful remark came from me during an appearance on Jesse Tyler Ferguson’s Dinner’s on Me podcast.

The actress from “The No Good Deed” revealed that she came across episodes she had never watched before, even though she attended the initial readings when they were produced. She went on to say, “There are episodes I’ve never seen and still haven’t because I’m still figuring out how to approach them. It’s almost like there’s a sense of apprehension about watching it.

Kudrow mentioned that she sometimes felt apprehensive about her personal interpretation of specific episodes before discussing a particular memory she had while watching a season 10 episode where her character, Phoebe Buffay, married her on-screen partner Mike (portrayed by Paul Rudd).

When Phoebe got married, and as she walked down the aisle with a big smile on her face, I found myself tearing up because she looked so genuinely happy,” Kudrow, 61, revealed. “She was truly content, and it was just… quite moving to me. She really deserves to be that happy.

In our chat earlier, Kudrow enlightened me about her perspective on her Friends character, Phoebe. She confided that Phoebe, in numerous aspects, embodied a sense of tragedy, stemming from her background of a fractured family and periods of homelessness. Remarkably, despite this, she transformed Phoebe into one of the most hilarious figures. Moreover, she portrayed Phoebe as an individual who rarely gave much thought to many of her struggles, constantly exuding an upbeat attitude that suggested life’s challenges are commonplace for everyone.

Friends is available to stream in full on Max.
