MCU’s Jeremy Renner Reveals He’s Only Seen Two ‘Avengers’ Films and Jokes About Snowplow Accident: “F*** Iron Man”

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but admire Jeremy Renner’s resilience and spirit. His portrayal of Hawkeye has not only captivated us on screen but also his real-life battles off it have left us in awe. From surviving a near-fatal snowplow accident to joking about it now, he truly embodies the character he plays – tenacious and tough.

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), Jeremy Renner’s portrayal of Hawkeye is highly appreciated by fans. After his last live-action appearance in the “Hawkeye” series, he reprised his role as a voice actor in Season 2 of “What If…?” The episode where he appears is titled “What If… Happy Hogan Saved Christmas?”.

Lately, there’s been a lot of buzz suggesting that another season of Hawkeye might be on the horizon, potentially putting Renner back in the limelight. Interestingly, Renner has lately been at the Red Sea International Film Festival (RSIFF) in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, discussing his career and health after a serious snowplow accident.

On New Year’s Day, 2023, he ended up in the hospital following a serious incident at home involving his snowplow. This mishap led to chest trauma from blunt force and approximately 30 fractured bones. The heavy snowplower, weighing around 14,330 pounds, accidentally ran over him.

He was airlifted to Renown Regional Medical Center, underwent surgery, and remained in the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition. On January 17, he was released from the hospital and returned home. Ten weeks after that, he began walking with a cane, and the doctors attributed his survival to his robust health and fitness.

Approaching nearly two years since the mishap, Renner now finds humor in it, remarking that due to this event, he’s become more Titanium than Iron Man.

I am forever grateful for all the love and support. I’m 25 percent titanium, so fuck Iron Man.

Jeremy Renner admitted that he usually avoids watching his own films, but he decided to make an exception and watch parts of The Avengers and Avengers: Endgame. This was so he could see the CGI effects that the cast doesn’t witness during filming. He quipped, “You want to know what’s really happening behind the scenes.

Apart from mentioning this, he additionally disclosed that the initial Avengers crew – Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Hemsworth, and Mark Ruffalo – have turned out to be among his dearest friends. Reflecting on his Marvel adventure, he reminisced about desiring to be Spider-Man or The Hulk when he was younger. He also playfully expressed doubts about committing to a 10-year contract, questioning if people would still appreciate seeing him in tights at the age of 50.

“At this age of 50, I’m not sure if wearing tight-fitting clothing is appropriate or appealing. I doubt anyone would want to see me in that at 50.

As I embarked on the journey as Clint Barton, it turned out to be one of the most enchanting escapades I’ve ever had. Not only did I find myself, but I stumbled upon five companions who I can spend the next decade-and-a-half with, sharing in marriages, divorces, parenthood, and all the highs and lows life has to offer. It’s been a rollercoaster ride of emotions and experiences that I wouldn’t trade for anything.

The Avengers are not just fictional characters; they’re actually a group we belong to. We even got matching tattoos featuring the A6 emblem, each one placed in a unique spot on our bodies.

The actor not only lauded his fellow performers in “Knives Out 3,” particularly Daniel Craig, but also expressed that earning awards such as an Oscar isn’t something he places great importance on. Reflecting on his Oscar nominations for “The Hurt Locker” in 2010 and “The Town” in 2011, he admitted it was odd, almost like being initiated into an exclusive group. He also disclosed that he brought his mother to the ceremony on both occasions.

Renner added, ‘I wasn’t fussed about receiving a statue. frankly, I didn’t want it because you have to deliver a speech afterwards. With my social anxiety, the last thing I’d relish is standing up in front of people and speaking.’
