As an obsessed fan, I can’t help but feel a profound connection with Sabrina Carpenter. Her journey from a budding pop star to a global sensation is nothing short of inspiring. The fact that she’s so enamored with her own music, as evidenced by her spot on her Spotify Wrapped, only cements my admiration for her.
Sabrina Carpenter finds herself captivated by her own song “Espresso” to such an extent that she can’t help but keep listening to it. The rising pop star, who has recently enjoyed newfound success following the success of her latest album Short ‘n Sweet, shared that this track made it onto her Spotify Wrapped list alongside other artists like Dolly Parton, ABBA, Kacey Musgraves, and the Bee Gees. At first, she was reluctant to disclose this information, but eventually came to accept that being a fan of her own music is something to be proud of.
When I first laid eyes on it, I had an immediate thought, “Oh dear, I can’t share this as I’m on my own roster. It feels a bit self-important.” But then I realized, it’s actually quite beneficial that I’m on my roster and listening to my own music because it shows I stand by what I create.
It turns out that the hit tune by The Nonsense singer wasn’t just heard by her lonesome; it was Spotify’s top streamed track of the year, with over 1.6 billion plays. To add to this success, the album Short ‘n Sweet, which includes her song, ranked third on Spotify’s list of most-streamed albums for the year, with Taylor Swift and Billie Eilish ahead of it in first and second place respectively.
On Spotify and Apple Music, my song is the most played one, and I’ve been named the top artist on TikTok this year! Incredible, right? A huge thank you to all of you! I can’t express my gratitude enough. You are loved beyond measure!” (Carpenter posted on Instagram, expressing her gratitude to her fans.)
The star has concluded the North American part of her Short ‘n Sweet tour in November and plans to carry on with it in Europe next year.
During that period, on December 6th, she unveiled her Netflix special titled “A Nonsense Christmas.” This special showcases tunes from her 2023 Fruitcake extended play, includes humor segments, and boasts guest appearances by celebrities such as Chappell Roan and Shania Twain.
At twenty-six years old, Roan joined many other artists in posting their Spotify Year In Review. Unsurprisingly, her most played track was the timeless hit “Barracuda” by Heart from 1977, a fact she had already hinted at in an Instagram post.
This year, her top five favorite artists that she frequently listened to were Ariana Grande, Charli XCX, Heart, Justice, and Kacey Musgraves.
Regarding Carpenter, the vocalist, she’s facing a challenging time in her private life following her split with Barry Keoghan, the actor from Saltburn. There are rumors that he may have been unfaithful to her with an influencer on social media, but these accusations haven’t been proven as no solid proof of his misconduct has come to light yet.
