SCRUBS Creator Bill Lawrence Working on Reboot

As a devoted Scrubs fan, I can hardly contain my excitement at the prospect of this beloved series making a comeback! For me, Scrubs was more than just a TV show; it was a source of comfort, laughter, and even life lessons that I carried with me throughout my own journey through the hallowed halls (or hospital wings) of life.

At its peak, “Scrubs” stood out as exceptional, but it’s often missed when discussing great TV shows throughout history. However, this could shift if a new wave of television viewers discover what made the series unique. Interestingly, reports suggest that the creator of “Scrubs,” Bill Lawrence, has started working on a possible revival of this beloved series.

Based on information from Variety, Bill Lawrence, known for shows like Ted Lasso and Shrinking, is exploring the possibility of returning to Sacred Heart or potentially setting a new fictional hospital as the backdrop for a Scrubs reboot. Joe Otterson reports that Lawrence is in the early stages of creating “a fresh take on the series.” At this point, there are no specifics about what form the reboot might take or who would be part of the cast. As of now, none of the original cast members have been linked to the project.

If Lawrence doesn’t progress forward, it seems he won’t be the showrunner this time around. Currently, he’s working on the reboot at 20th Television, which has now incorporated ABC Studios. This is the same studio where “Scrubs” shifted for its final two seasons in 2009 and 2010, following its departure from NBC after seven seasons. However, Lawrence also holds an overall deal with Warner Bros. Television. According to sources at Variety, Warner Bros. provides Lawrence the freedom to work outside of that agreement.

15 years off the airwaves, “Scrubs” continues to be alive and kicking on TV, mainly due to my pals Zach Braff and Donald Faison. They’ve been popping up in nearly 40 million T-Mobile commercials recently, and every time I see them, it feels like a blast from the past, much like “Scrubs.

What would Dr. Cox think about those musical ads? We can probably definitely guess, but we’d still like to hear it from him directly. Whether or not we ever will remains to be seen. But even if this Scrubs reboot never happens this news is a great reminder to go rewatch the original version anyway.
