As a fervent admirer of Angelina Jolie‘s work and personal journey, I found her recent press conference for the film Maria both enlightening and amusing. It was intriguing to witness the actress’s candid response when faced with an unusual question about a potential biopic on her life. The extended laughter shared by Jolie and director Larrain was infectious, and their camaraderie underscored the bond between artists who understand the complexities of portraying one’s own life on screen.
At present, Angelina Jolie is actively promoting her upcoming film and biopic titled Maria. During a press conference for this movie, a rather unusual question was posed to the actress, to which she humorously replied. In a gathering, a journalist from The Time UK inquired about a possible biopic based on Jolie’s personal life.
During an interview with a media outlet, the journalist asked the actress, “What a biopic about Angelina Jolie’s life directed by Larrain might resemble?” To this amusing query, both the actress and director, Larrain, shared a prolonged laugh before playfully commenting that it deserved the “most outrageous question award.
She explained that when taking on the role of a public figure, it’s important to be mindful not to let others misinterpret your life or presume they know you well. So, we aimed to be careful in our portrayal to prevent any misconceptions about mine. Here’s to hoping there won’t be any speculations about my personal life.
The film director responsible for many well-known movies such as Jackie (2016) featuring Natalie Portman, and Spencer (2021), has been recognized for his work behind the camera.
In the movie, Angelina Jolie takes on the character of renowned opera singer Maria Callas, who sadly passed away at 53 years old.
In an interview, the actress from Mr. & Mrs. Smith admitted that singing isn’t something she’s naturally gifted at, and playing that role presented a challenge. She explained to the media outlet, “I didn’t realize it, but it turned out to be the therapy I needed.
The renowned actor also mentioned, “Performing opera demands an extreme level of emotional vulnerability – it isn’t similar to casual singing in your vehicle. It’s a release. I’ve never stretched myself or bared my soul like this before; that was intimidating.
Currently, the actress is dominating awards season with her film, as Maria stands out as the strong contender for honors at various ceremonies.
Jolie commented to the media outlet, “I’d rather not delve too deeply as it’s quite personal, but there’s certainly a sense of solitude and dedication in me. Let me clarify that while I may have many attributes, I am indeed a dedicated worker. I acknowledge my imperfections, yet I strive to work diligently, just like her.
Maria will hit Netflix on December 11.
