As a lifestyle expert with a deep appreciation for cinema and music, I must say that Ariana Grande‘s emotional reaction to holding Glinda’s wand from The Wizard of Oz truly resonated with me. Having grown up watching this iconic film, I can understand her attachment to the character and the nostalgia it evokes.
It’s clear that Ariana Grande enjoyed her time on Drew Barrymore’s show immensely, as she was thrilled to hold Glinda’s wand from the 1939 Wizard of Oz movie. The unexpected encounter left her quite emotional, underscoring her deep affection for the timeless film and her character, Galinda.
In a sneak peek of Barrymore’s interview with Grande, The Wedding Singer actor mentioned that she had something unique and thrilling. She clarified that this item belonged to the Smithsonian originally, but now it is privately owned by someone who has lent the wand to them for their segment.
As soon as she held the Wand, the singer couldn’t help but feel emotional. She thanked them for it and asked if they were being sincere. Playfully, she stood up and left, saying her goodbyes: “Thanks, everyone; it was a blast! See you later!” The actresses from Charlie’s Angels commented that Grande looked “excellent” with the wand.
As a devoted admirer, I found myself curious about how Barrymore managed such an impressive feat, and I couldn’t help but ask, “Wow, did you sneak in there?” To which she graciously replied by acknowledging everyone involved in her show, explaining that they were all thrilled to have Ariana Grande joining them.
In an unspoken fact, it was actress Billie Burke who embodied Galind in the film The Wizard of Oz, starring Judy Garland in 1939. Later on, in 1970, at the age of 85, Billie Burke passed away.
In the recently released movie titled “Wicked,” directed by Jon M. Chu, Ariana Grande takes on the part originally played by Galinda. Additionally, Cynthia Ervio portrays Elphaba, Michelle Yeoh steps into Madame Morrible’s role, Jeff Blum becomes The Wizard of Oz, Jonathan Bailey plays Prince Fiyero, Peter Dinklage is Dr. Dillamond, and several other talented actors join them in the film.
The full segment of the Drew Barrymore show with Grande will air on CBS on December 5, Thursday.
