FromSoftware Isn’t Making Elden Ring 2 but the Journey Isn’t Over

As a hardcore Elden Ring fan who’s spent countless hours traversing the Lands Between, I can’t help but feel a mix of relief and anticipation upon hearing FromSoftware‘s latest announcement. Relief, because it means we won’t have to wait forever for another mainline sequel, yet anticipation because there’s still so much unexplored potential in the Elden Ring universe.

Currently, FromSoftware’s Hidetaka Miyazaki has stated that they aren’t developing ‘Elden Ring 2’ for now. But, it doesn’t signify the end of the ‘Elden Ring’ series altogether. Instead, they are engaged in various projects, some of which might extend or further develop the ‘Elden Ring’ universe.

Back in the start of this year, FromSoftware unveiled ‘Shadow of the Erdtree,’ an impressive expansion pack for ‘Elden Ring.’ This expansion has been warmly welcomed and is even nominated for Game of the Year prizes. In a recent statement, Miyazaki shared that ‘Shadow of the Erdtree’ was designed as additional content (DLC) with the intention of delivering an adventurous experience reminiscent of ‘Elden Ring.’

Miyazaki didn’t give precise information about future projects, but he suggested that FromSoftware will reveal different elements of their work in diverse manners. Additionally, he mentioned that input from the ‘Shadow of the Erdtree’ DLC will be considered for upcoming games.

Miyazaki says Elden Ring 2 is not currently being considered at FromSoftware.

To put it simply, while there’s no active work on Elden Ring 2 yet, developers at FromSoftware are brainstorming ideas within the Elden Ring intellectual property for future projects. Fans can anticipate upcoming experiences that could further expand and enrich the captivating universe introduced in the initial game.
