MCU’s Adaptation of the New ‘Iron Man’ Story Could Lead to the Ultimate Team-Up Between Tony Stark and Scarlet Witch (With the Most Magical Armor Yet)

As a die-hard Marvel fan who has witnessed the rise and fall of countless heroes, I can confidently say that this new Iron Man saga is shaping up to be a game-changer. The blend of technology and magic, a departure from Tony Stark’s usual high-tech solutions, promises an exhilarating ride for fans like me who crave the unexpected.

Come October, a fresh chapter unfolds for Iron Man as the narrative is penned by Spencer Ackerman and illustrated by Julius Ohta, reviving the hero to his original origins. In the rural regions of New York, Iron Man intervenes when Roxxon Corporation imposes a factory lockout on employees of Stark Unlimited.

Following the vanquish of Roxxon troops, Tony Stark consents to meet the union’s requests. Yet, during a subsequent skirmish, his suit encounters a fault, resulting in an accident that injures him severely and necessitates hospitalization.

After he regains health, Tony will confront a corporate battle since A.I.M. and Roxxon aim to seize Stark Unlimited and convert it into a weapons factory. It is revealed that the issue with Tony’s armor was due to magic, orchestrated by Justine Hammer, who has fashioned her own Iron Monger suit.

She discloses that she’s partnered with one of Tony’s former Avengers allies and intends to leverage Stark’s tech for worldwide control. In response, Tony swears to thwart Roxxon and A.I.M., initiating a fresh conflict known as the Stark-Roxxon War.

Amidst the unabating Stark-Roxxon conflict, Tony Stark resorts to constructing an improvised Iron Man suit from remnants of his damaged armor sets. With Roxxon and A.I.M. attempting to seize his technology, he finds himself in dire need of aid as a mysterious magical peril, which twice came close to claiming his life, requires immediate attention. In issue #2 of Iron Man, it’s disclosed that Dr. Druid, once an Avenger, has allied with A.I.M.

Currently, Tony summons his ally, the Scarlet Witch, to lend a hand. In Iron Man issue 4, we see Wanda donning Tony’s latest suit of armor.

The official synopsis states:

As a devoted fan, I’m excited to share that the Crimson Avengers are under siege! Iron Man, eager to reactivate his arsenal of armors, has roped in a fellow Avenger for a magical mission. However, the Scarlet Witch’s findings could set off a time bomb in Tony Stark’s life, and the suspense lies in when, not if, it detonates…and who might be unfortunate enough to be within the blast radius. The Stark family legacy and an array of guest stars make this issue an absolute must-read!

In this new phase, Iron Man finds himself in a situation where he must abandon his technological reliance and delve into the realm of magic to confront his toughest obstacles yet. This narrative shift brings forth intriguing opportunities within the Marvel Cinematic Universe, as speculation swirls about the potential resurrection of both Tony Stark and Wanda Maximoff, with Wanda seemingly having a higher probability of reappearance.

It’s possible that Doctor Doom could step into Iron Man’s role, given the speculation surrounding the relationship between Scarlet Witch and Doom in the upcoming movie “Doomsday”. Some theories also propose a romantic bond between them.

Perhaps Doom might design an analogous armor (or mask) for Scarlet Witch, demonstrating his allegiance to their common goal, thereby enhancing her powers further.

In the coming year, the fourth issue of Iron Man (2024) is set to hit shelves on January 22nd, 2025. This exciting comic book installment has been penned by Spencer Ackerman and beautifully illustrated by Javier Pina and Rod Reis. Yasmine Putri has graced us with the cover art for this issue.
