As a seasoned gamer with over 20 years of experience under my belt, I must say that the Batman franchise has always been a rollercoaster ride of excitement and anticipation. The latest development in Matt Reeves’ epic saga has me intrigued, to say the least.
Matt Reeves’ expansive Batman storyline carries on, flourishing following the triumph of “The Batman.” Subsequently, the universe broadened with the critically acclaimed “Penguin” spin-off series, positioning the Penguin as a significant antagonist for the franchise’s upcoming tales.
Lately, Matt Reeves has given a clue about the antagonist for The Batman: Part II, and some fans suspect he might be alluding to the Court of Owls. Yet, this doesn’t exclude other well-known villains such as Mr. Freeze, considering the film’s winter atmosphere could suggest his emergence.
Currently, James Gunn stated that Reeves hasn’t handed over the script as of now for the upcoming film, leading to potential further postponements. As a result, aspects like the villain and other specifics might undergo alterations.
As a devoted fan, I was thrilled to learn that during an interview with The Movie Dweeb, Jeffrey Wright, our beloved Jim Gordon, dropped an intriguing hint about the potential next Batman villain. He proposed James Gordon Jr., Gordon’s son who becomes a villain in the comics, as a captivating possibility. Even more excitingly, Wright hinted that he has some tantalizing ideas brewing regarding who could bring this character to life on screen, but alas, he chose not to reveal any names just yet.
There are many options available. Interestingly, it’s worth mentioning that Gordon has a son who gets involved in questionable activities. This could potentially be the case.
Back in ’87, I was just a baby making my debut in Batman: Year One, Jim Gordon’s son, little ol’ me – James. Fast forward to 2011, I re-entered the scene, but this time not as the adorable infant everyone knew, no sirree! I had transformed into a menacing villain. Now, if you ask Scott Snyder, he’d tell ya that there were hints of psychopathy in my childhood behavior, and by Gotham, I became a dangerous serial killer.
I find his narrative fits flawlessly with a Batman that genuinely embodies the title of the World’s Greatest Detective.
During a recent chat, Jeffrey Wright discussed Gordon’s lack of appearance in the “The Penguin” series. He clarified the reasons behind his character’s absence and subtly suggested potential developments for the future.
In the initial season, there wasn’t any mention or indication that I was involved. As for future seasons, we’ll have to wait and see, but right now, I’ve got plenty on my plate already.
