As a seasoned gamer with countless hours spent navigating the dark corners of various virtual worlds, I must say that the latest addition to ‘Dead by Daylight‘, the Doomed Course, has truly piqued my interest. The new characters, The Houndmaster and Taurie Cain, seem intriguing and offer a fresh twist to the game’s lore.
‘Dead by Daylight’ has gifted players with a new chapter, aptly titled ‘Doomed Course’, just in time for Thanksgiving. This fresh chapter introduces a brand-new Killer character, The Houndmaster, and a new Survivor, Taurie Cain. Additionally, buying this add-on grants access to 2 unique Cosmetics: The Houndmaster’s Titanium Skull and Taurie Cain’s Gold Tier attire.

THE HOUNDMASTER
Stricken by a devastating event, Portia Maye emerged with fresh determination: to inflict unimaginable suffering upon those responsible for shattering her family. Her faithful canine companion remained steadfast by her side, while her relentless thirst for vengeance plumbed the depths of the darkest abyss.
The Houndmaster’s Power: Scent of Blood
Together like a single unit, the Houndmaster and her canine companion carry out their tasks swiftly, each command met with immediate compliance. Utilize your dog for chasing, trailing, and seizing Survivors, thus enabling you to exert control more effectively.
Special Ability: Chase
Give the “Chase” command to make your dog dash forward along a straight path. Giving the command again will change his course, providing you with more control over the direction in which he moves.
When your dog seizes and holds onto a Survivor, that Survivor gets pulled towards The Houndmaster. However, they can avoid being seized by either stunning the dog or getting saved by another Survivor. If they manage to escape unharmed, they’ll face the Hindrance from The Houndmaster.
Special Ability: Search
As a gamer, I can deploy my trusty canine companion on a scouting mission to sniff out survivors. The wider its search radius, the more likely it is to uncover any nearby survivors. By following my dog’s lead and staying on its search path, I’ll gain a speed boost, helping me close in quickly on my targets.
Special Effect: Houndsense
Survivors who are healthy but have experienced Houndsense encounter a Deep Wound when they get hurt. When injured survivors are afflicted by Houndsense, their movement slows, they emit more audible cries of pain, and their bleeding takes longer during the Drying State.
The Houdmaster comes with 3 new perks.
All-Shaking Thunder
After falling from a height, your lunge distance is longer for a brief duration.
Scourge Hook: Jagged Compass
Once a Survivor is freed from a regular hook (not a Scourge hook), that hook transforms into a Scourge hook. If a Survivor gets caught on a Scourge hook, for a short while, the generator with the greatest progress will be momentarily visible.
No Quarter
As I’m on the verge of completing a self-healing process in Survivor, I’m suddenly swamped with Skill Checks. Fumbling or getting interrupted during this time will leave me in a ‘Broken’ state for a while.
TAURIE CAIN
Only a few find joy upon entering The Entity’s Realm, but Taurie Cain is unlike many Survivors. Growing up in the Black Talon, her curiosity towards the eldritch darkness propelled her into The Fog. Yet, despite the challenges she faces, her moral compass generally stays intact – for the most part.
Taurie Cain comes with 3 new perks.
Invocation: Treacherous Crows
In the basement, you can initiate the invocation. Following a prolonged period, you’ll suffer injuries that last throughout the trial. Yet, when any survivor disturbs a crow, the aura of the killer will be exposed to everyone.
Clean Break
Once you’ve helped another Survivor recover, and then you start getting healed yourself, there’s a chance you could immediately enter a broken state. Over time, however, you’ll regain your health again.
Shoulder The Burden
During each trial, if you’re not in the state of being hooked to die, you can perform the action called ‘Shoulder the Burden’ before freeing a survivor. Upon their release, they lose one state of being hooked, you gain one state of being hooked, emit a scream and become exposed for a short while.
EXCLUSIVE CHAPTER KILLER ITEM: TITANIUM SKULL
In “The Doomed Course”, the unique Titanium Skull item, exclusive to The Houndmaster, is only accessible through the DLC. This item cannot be purchased on its own.)
EXCLUSIVE CHAPTER SURVIVOR ITEM: GOLD TIER
In the “Doomed Course” chapter, there’s a special item for Taurie called the Gold Tier, which is exclusively accessible through the DLC. Important to remember, this item cannot be bought individually.
