As a longtime fan of animated classics who grew up watching Mighty Mouse on Saturday mornings, I must say I am thrilled to see Ryan Reynolds taking on this iconic character! With his knack for bringing humor and charm to every role he plays, I can’t wait to see how he brings Mighty Mouse to life in a modern setting.
Ryan Reynolds continues to stay active after the massive triumphs of Deadpool and Wolverine. It’s said that the actor known for Green Lantern is planning to team up once more with Matt Lieberman, the writer of Free Guy, to resurrect an 82-year-old animated character, Mighty Mouse.
As reported by Variety, Ryan Reynolds is set to collaborate with Lieberman in the development of an animated film based on the classic cartoon character.
Actor known for roles in Red Notice and Lieberman is teaming up with Paramount Animation to develop a full-length animated film based on the character, Mighty Mouse.
Not only that but Ryan Reynolds’s company Maximum Effort will produce the film.
In February, the production company featured in “The Proposal” had its existing first-look agreement with Paramount Pictures extended.
If you’re unfamiliar, let me tell you that Matt Lieberman has worked on films such as The Addams Family and The Christmas Chronicles. His upcoming project involves writing the script for an animated feature film.
Mighty Mouse first made its appearance in 1942 in the short film, The Mouse of Tomorrow.
Over time, numerous variations of the character appeared in various productions covering multiple generations. These include CBS’ Mighty Mouse Playhouse (1955-1967) and Ralph Bakshi’s Mighty Mouse: The New Adventures (1987-1988).
Mighty Mouse is also famous for one of the most catchiest cartoon themes, “Mighty Mouse Theme (Here I Come to Save the Day).”
Ryan Reynolds and Matt Lieberman are the most recent individuals attempting a resurrection of the character, though they’re not the pioneers. Previously, writers involved in “The Meg” and “Red” series have made efforts to reanimate this specific character.
2021’s film “Free Guy,” with a global box office revenue of $331.5 million, was skillfully helmed by director Shawn Levy.
For individuals unfamiliar with the project, it was allocated a funding of approximately 125 million dollars. The film Free Guy showcased not only Ryan Reynolds, who played Wolverine in X-Men Origins, but also featured Jodie Comer, Joe Keery, and Taika Waititi in prominent roles.
In addition to those named, the film featured several prominent stars from the world of Hollywood cinema, including Channing Tatum, Hugh Jackman, Dwayne Johnson, John Krasinski, and Chris Evans as well.
