As a long-time fan of Adele and someone who deeply respects the artist’s wishes, it was disheartening to see Donald Trump using her music during his political rallies without permission. Adele has always been vocal about her political views and it seems that even her powerful voice in the world of music could not deter Trump from using her songs for his own gain.
In 2016, Donald Trump employed some of Adele’s tunes during his campaign rallies. Contrary to what many might expect after being referenced by the current president, Adele herself showed no enthusiasm.
After the election campaign, the musician openly asked the Republican nominee to desist from utilizing her songs for political activities.
At an Oklahoma rally previously, Trump and his team were spotted appreciating the Rolling in the Deep song by the artist. Later, at a rally in Ohio, the political figure chose to play Skyfall.
During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the singer made it clear that she does not endorse her songs being played during political events or rallies. Furthermore, a spokesperson for Adele declared in the public sphere that she has not granted authorization for her music to be utilized in any political campaigns.
Besides Adele, artists such as Steven Tyler, Neil Young, and Michael Stipe also appealed to politicians, asking them to refrain from utilizing their songs for the purpose of gaining voter support.
Following the sharing of photos and clips from the rallies across various social media platforms, an avalanche of opinions poured into the comments section from enthusiastic spectators.
One admirer expressed disbelief, saying, “I can’t believe that Donald Trump could just stroll into an Adele concert while I’m still waiting my turn! I hope @Adele will rectify this situation.” Another fan speculated, “Perhaps he didn’t ask for her support. Here’s hoping she’s made it clear on the matter.
As a devoted admirer, I couldn’t help but chime in with my thoughts on the singer’s latest performance: “Boy, does it seem like she’s as uncomfortable as us… I can’t help but hope that his next song will take him for a swim in the deep end. The bigot.
Despite Adele refusing to let Trump use her music at his rallies, he didn’t respond. In the year 2024, Trump triumphed in the Republican primaries and is now poised to become the 47th President of the United States.
