‘Is This Because of Drake?’: Jimmy Kimmel Takes a Jab at Donald Trump For Newly Announced Tariff Plans on Canada and Mexico

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for current affairs and a deep appreciation for wit and humor, I must say that Jimmy Kimmel’s recent monologue on Donald Trump’s tariff plans was nothing short of brilliant. Drawing from his extensive experience in the entertainment industry, Kimmel masterfully weaves humor into complex political issues, making them more accessible and engaging for a wider audience.

It’s common knowledge that Jimmy Kimmel isn’t fond of Donald Trump, and his latest talk show episode provides plenty of evidence to support this viewpoint. In a humorous speech, he criticized Trump’s recently proposed tariffs for Canada, Mexico, and China.

On Tuesday, Kimmel criticized Trump sharply following the president-elect’s proposal to raise import tariffs upon his return to the White House. Some of Trump’s proposed measures involve imposing a 25% tax on all products imported from Mexico and Canada, as well as an additional 10% tariff on Chinese goods.

Later on, Kimmel strongly criticized Trump’s proposed tariff policies, arguing that many economists consider them catastrophic. He stated, “A large number of people who are knowledgeable in economics view these tariffs as a very poor decision. Some even say this is one of the most foolish things he has ever suggested since Donald Junior.

“He pointed out that China, Canada, and Mexico don’t directly cover the tariffs. Instead, it’s the American importers who foot the bill, which they in turn pass on to consumers. Consequently, this could lead to a significant increase in prices (inflation), as we end up paying 40 USD for avocados.

Through his sharp humor, Kimmel managed to take a jab at both Trump’s tariff plans and his business history, as well as Canadian rapper Drake who had recently been embroiled in the culturally phenomenal and infamous beef with Kendrick Lamar.

He continued talking about Mexico’s contributions such as the cars, trucks, etc, before joking about Canada, saying, “Poor Canada is like what did we do? I mean be honest is this because of Drake?”

Jimmy Kimmel concluded the show with a jab at Donald Trump‘s historical financial mismanagement, pointing out his multiple bankruptcies. It was amusing, he said, that a man who has declared bankruptcy on six occasions struggles so much with managing money.
