DCU Actor Steve Agee Says He “Worked More Days Than Anybody Else” on The Suicide Squad

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for Hollywood’s behind-the-scenes action, I must say I’ve been thoroughly impressed by Steve Agee’s journey in the DCU. From his humble beginnings as a minor character to his current status as a key player, Agee’s transformation is a testament to the power of persistence and adaptability in Tinseltown.

Actor Steve Agee, known from Creature Commandos, has shared an interesting tidbit about his work in The Suicide Squad: it turned out that his duties went way beyond just portraying John Economos. In fact, he ended up spending more days on set than Margot Robbie, as he provided motion capture for the character of King Shark.

Agee initially played John Economos as a minor character in The Suicide Squad, contributing comic relief as a tech specialist working for Amanda Waller. However, his larger contribution to the film came as the motion capture performer for King Shark, the lovable, anthropomorphic shark with superhuman strength. “I think I worked more days than anybody else on the movie, including Margot, and that was mostly King Shark,” Agee shared in an interview with GamesRadar+.

Initially, Economos’ part appeared to be insignificant in Peacemaker, but the character turned out to be crucial and will also feature in Creature Commandos, thereby establishing him as a key figure in the latest DC Universe. Interestingly, actor John C. McGinley (who plays Economos) was taken aback by the character’s enduring importance, stating, “When James Gunn mentioned we were working on a Peacemaker spin-off and that Economos was included, I must admit, I was genuinely shocked.

In the DC Universe, Economos continues to prosper, but King Shark’s outcome is uncertain. With the quirky ensemble of Creature Commandos, which includes a radioactive skeleton and the Bride of Frankenstein, some enthusiasts propose that there could be a place for the powerful shark in upcoming ventures.

Steve Agee’s transition from bit parts to a recurring figure in the DC Universe showcases James Gunn’s talent for resurrecting underrated characters. Starting December 5, fans can watch Creature Commandos on Max. Meanwhile, Peacemaker season 2 and Superman: Legacy are scheduled for release in 2025. At the moment, Agee appears poised to tackle whatever unexpected elements the DC Universe may present him with.
