Gwen Stefani Reflects on Her and Blake Shelton’s Initial Dating Phase; Reveals Once Telling Him ‘This Is Not Happening’

As a lifestyle expert, I find it truly heartwarming to witness the love story of Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton. Their journey is a testament to resilience, healing, and second chances – something that resonates deeply with me as we all navigate our own paths through life.

Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton’s romance seems like something straight from a storybook. As coaches on The Voice in 2015, these two celebrities, aged 55 (Stefani) and 48 (Shelton), found themselves amidst their respective divorces – Stefani from Gavin Rossdale and Shelton from Miranda Lambert.

Initially hesitant about starting a fresh romance, Stefani found herself on the verge of pushing Shelton away, despite being the mother of sons Kingston (18), Zuma (16), and Apollo (10) with Rossdale.

Discussing her latest album Bouquet, the ex-lead singer of No Doubt reminisced about her relationship at the time, saying, “We had only just met, and things were hectic. Our lives were in disarray, everything was falling apart. At that moment, there was nothing that could rescue us.” She went on to explain, “At one point, I thought, ‘I can’t even communicate with you. This is overwhelming. I already have enough issues. This situation needs to stop.’ This meant no more texting or contact of any kind.

However, Shelton persisted, eventually winning her over with music.

In a surprising move, Stefani disclosed that her now-husband, who was once a coworker, attempted to win her over by sharing an unfinished song with her and essentially keeping them connected. Impressed, she finished the song, and they ultimately produced and released it as “Go Ahead and Break My Heart” in 2016.

Currently, Stefani and Shelton share partnerships in both their personal and work lives. They officially became a married couple in 2021, following five years together as a romantic duo.

In an interview with People magazine, Stefani openly discussed how having a happy family, including marriage and children, had always been her heart’s desire, yet it seemed unattainable following the dissolution of her initial marriage through divorce. However, Stefani expresses profound gratitude for a renewed opportunity to pursue these aspirations, all thanks to Shelton.

For nearly a decade, this pair has excelled remarkably in their dual roles as coparents to her three children and as musical collaborators, producing many popular songs together. Notably, Shelton lent his vocals and penmanship to Stefani’s latest album, Bouquet.
