As a long-time comic book enthusiast and a dedicated fan of both the MCU and the DCU, I can’t help but feel a thrill of excitement as the DCU finally takes off with the release of Creature Commandos. The idea of Amanda Waller forming a black ops team of monsters, led by General Rick Flag Sr., is nothing short of intriguing!
The beginning of DCU is nearly upon us, commencing on December 5th with the debut of ‘Creature Commandos’. Following the conclusion of ‘Peacemaker’, Amanda Waller finds herself unable to jeopardize human lives in her undercover operations, much like she did with the Suicide Squad and Team Peacemaker.
In reaction, she creates a covert squad of monstrous beings, dubbed the Creature Commandos, with General Rick Flag Sr at their helm. The management of these operations falls under A.R.G.U.S., a U.S. government organization led by Waller.
A.R.G.U.S. works alongside the CIA and FBI, hiring individuals who possess extraordinary abilities or exceptional skills, to safeguard our country and tackle significant dangers.
As reported by Frank Grillo, there are expected alterations within A.R.G.U.S. in the DC Universe that extend beyond just the new logo seen on the set of Peacemaker Season 2.
In a chat with Collider, Grillo spoke about his character within the DC Universe, drawing parallels to Agent Coulson from the MCU, who held significant roles in numerous productions. Currently, it’s confirmed that Grillo will feature in “Creature Commandos”, “Peacemaker”, and “Superman”. This is why the comparison has been made.
You might catch a hint of Samuel L. Jackson’s style, like when his character briefly appears in ‘Superman’ with an impactful role, only to take on an even more significant part in ‘Peacemaker.’
Moreover, it’s clear that he leads the team in ‘Creature Commandos’. Regarding the future, it seems likely that Rick Flag holds a high position within A.R.G.U.S., similar to Nick Fury’s role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Kevin Feige.
