Tom Hanks is all set to guide viewers on a stunning journey across the United States through his upcoming documentary series titled “The Americas.” A sneak peek at the show has been unveiled, suggesting it will showcase the nation’s breathtaking landscapes, hidden gems, and lesser-known regions more intimately than ever before.
Over a span of five years, the series was shot and is now being broken down into multiple one-hour installments. In an interview with People Magazine, the actor shared some insights about what viewers might anticipate when watching “The Americas.
In the course of our chat during the interview, Tom Hanks, the man behind Forrest Gump, divulged some exciting news. He mentioned that the upcoming show will unveil never-before-seen destinations. From the diverse wildlife of multiple animal species to breathtaking landscapes like the Atlantic Coast, Mexico, the Wild West, the Amazon, the Frozen North, the Gulf Coast, the Andes, the Caribbean, the West Coast, and Patagonia – we’re in for a thrilling journey!
In conversation about the program, Hanks stated, “Each episode offers a journey of discovery. You’ll find it fascinating, insightful, educational, and above all, fun.
He also added, “Nothing in here has been created inside the magic of the camera—absolutely nothing at all. It contains no CGI.”
The Hollywood star emphasized that the best part about working on the show was the animals. He explained that various species, including salamanders and other creatures, came together to “put on a play.”
TV at its peak, as what you see is not only imaginative but also based on reality, Hanks stated.
Later in the conversation, the Here character disclosed the most enjoyable aspect of the performance for him – he found delight in observing how each character managed to entertain themselves independently.
He concluded the interview by saying, “I knew that I would be learning an awful lot. I wanted to be on the front line. I feel lucky to be a part of this extraordinary project—capturing something that is so real that it’s irrefutable to anybody who watches it. And it’s just glorious to be a part of that.”
The Americas is set to premiere on NBC on February 23, with two episodes releasing every Sunday.
