As a seasoned gamer with decades of immersion into the DC Universe, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and trepidation about the upcoming projects announced by DC Studios. The prospect of a Bane & Deathstroke movie has me intrigued, especially since details are still scarce.
Upon assuming control at DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran unveiled an extensive roster of planned initiatives spanning various media formats, including animation, live-action productions, television series, and films.
Besides the ongoing projects we’ve got going, there are also fresh ones such as “Dynamic Duo” and “Teen Titans” that have been officially announced. As for “Clayface”, it’s a project that’s currently just a rumor.
Lately, industry insider Daniel Richtman has been dishing out information from his exclusive Patreon group, primarily about lesser-known projects in the DC Universe.
Kick things off by discussing the upcoming Bane and Deathstroke movie: About three weeks back, there was news that DC Studios are developing a live-action flick centered around these two famous antagonists. The screenplay is penned by Matthew Orton, although they haven’t named a director as of now.
Information on the film is limited, leaving us guessing if it falls under the primary DC Universe or if it’s going to be a separate series, perhaps similar to the Batman Epic Crime Saga.
Conversely, according to insider Daniel Richtman, it’s confirmed that the film will take place within the DC Universe, which brings about intriguing prospects.
It’s uncertain if the upcoming Deathstroke film is connected to Joe Manganiello’s portrayal of the character. Manganiello had written his own Deathstroke screenplay, which Warner Bros. initially expressed interest in, but later opted to reboot the DC Universe instead. After almost a decade, Manganiello revealed that James Gunn advised him to let go of the project.
Prior to this, DC Entertainment had contemplated revisiting and expanding upon their previous cinematic universes. Joe Manganiello shared that Jim Lee from DC Comics suggested turning his script into a comic book, but it wasn’t certain whether he would remain involved in the project if it gained popularity.
In the end, James Gunn told him to let it go.
According to Richtman, the iconic Flash antagonist, Gorilla Grodd, is set to play a crucial part in the future of the DC Universe.
