Colman Domingo Is Coming as Batman for Season 2 of Hit Series

As a seasoned gamer and comic book enthusiast with over two decades of fandom under my belt, I can confidently say that the upcoming audio drama “Batman Unburied: Fallen City” is a game-changer for me. The first season was a masterpiece, and with the return of Colman Domingo as Batman, I’m beyond excited to dive back into this dark and gripping world once again.

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but marvel at the captivating realm of Batman, a comic book universe that stands out as one of the most intriguing creations ever made. Born from the collective minds of Bob Kane and Bill Finger, this universe has blossomed and grown since its inception, showcasing some of the most impressive feats of world-building and character development seen in the realm of mainstream superhero comics.

Consequently, this situation sparked numerous variations and spin-offs that are integral to the Batman universe, some of which have achieved great success. Occasionally, it’s a movie, other times it’s a television show or video game, but this discussion will zero in on an acclaimed audio series, with its sequel set for release imminently.

Specifically, when first introduced, the audio series “Batman Unburied” proved to be an enormous success, thanks to Oscar-nominee Colman Domingo delivering an exceptional Batman for fans. Excitingly, we’re thrilled to share that a second season of this audio series is coming up, and it’s arriving sooner than you might anticipate!

David S. Goyer, known for his work with superheroes, introduced “Batman Unburied” to the world in 2022 via Spotify. This audio drama was divided into 10 captivating episodes and starred Winston Duke as both Bruce Wayne and Batman from “Black Panther”. The series was a massive success, which is no surprise given Goyer’s dedication to a second season.

It’s officially announced that the second season, named “Batman Unburied: Fallen City“, is scheduled to arrive on November 26, 2024, which is not far off, on Spotify. This upcoming series will comprise eight episodes that will simultaneously release, unlike the first season. The second season promises to delve further into the troubled mind of the main character, Batman. According to Variety’s confirmation, here’s a sneak peek at the official synopsis:

In a city shaken by earthquakes, billionaire Bruce Wayne and District Attorney Harvey Dent introduce a social initiative that stirs discomfort among Gotham’s upper class but gains approval from the enigmatic Oracle of Gotham. However, when Harvey mysteriously disappears, Batman is compelled to delve into the city’s intricate underworld. This journey uncovers an ancient conspiracy by a hidden society that has controlled Gotham for years, a group linked to the murder of his parents. Meanwhile, Two-Face manipulates the justice system, forcing Batman to protect not only his own life but also his beloved city before it crumbles to pieces due to this sinister plot.

In the upcoming story, Colman Domingo steps in as Batman, joining forces with Gina Rodriguez portraying Barbara Gordon, Jason Isaacs taking on Alfred Pennyworth, along with Morena Baccarin as Allie, André Holland playing Harvey Dent/Two-Face, Cheech Marin as Jim Gordon, Tahar Rahim as The Patriarch, and Alan Ruck as Coby Williamson.

The audio drama titled “The Talisman” has Saladin Ahmed, Jess Carson, and Meghan Fitzmartin penning its script, with Alex Kemp set as director. Goyer, Keith Levine, and Gracie Wheelan will oversee the project as executive producers. Chica Barbosa, Alex Kemp, and Winnie Kemp are named as producers.
