Ellen DeGeneres and Wife Portia Find ‘Ideal’ Countryside House In Europe as They Leave US Amid Donald Trump’s Victory

As a fervent admirer of Ellen DeGeneres, I must say her latest move has left me both intrigued and amused. Having followed her journey for years, it’s fascinating to see how she continues to reinvent herself, from her groundbreaking comedy career to her real estate escapades.

After Donald Trump won the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election, Ellen DeGeneres decided to relocate from her home country. At present, she and her wife, Portia de Rossi, are living in a rural house in England.

Ellen DeGeneres, whose “The Ellen Show” ended in May 2022, has recently purchased a house that captured her heart during an earlier visit this year. As reported by People magazine, Ellen and her wife Portia have now officially acquired this UK property. The couple embarked on a house-hunting adventure in England early in October, with Ellen expressing her delight in finding her dream home nestled in the picturesque English countryside.

According to a source at the outlet, Ellen started looking for homes in England during early October. Eventually, she found a house that she adored and made the purchase not long after.

In the beloved Cotswolds region, where Ellen DeGeneres now calls home, it’s no secret that many famous figures such as David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, and others have found their way here. Interestingly enough, King Charles himself possesses his Highgrove House within this very county.

In August, the couple offloaded their Carpinteria property for an impressive 96 million dollars. Known for her fondness for real estate, DeGeneres has constructed, renovated, and rented out numerous high-end homes. This was actually the second property she had decided to part with. Earlier, in May 2024, she sold her Montecito residence for 32 million dollars, following a previous sale of another one worth 15 million in April 2022.

As a seasoned lifestyle connoisseur, I’ve often shared my unique perspective on real estate – viewing it as an exciting journey rather than just a property transaction. Moving from one home to another, much like shifting seats on a long voyage, provides a fresh outlook and offers a new angle within the same surroundings.

She shared with The Riv, “I don’t get to explore far-off places often. Instead, I find adventure in house flipping, which I consider my unique form of traveling. Though I remain within the same broad location, the surroundings transform, while I experience the area anew each time.

Since 2022, Ellen DeGeneres has been keeping a low profile following allegations of workplace abuse in 2020. However, she re-emerged in July 2024 with a Netflix comedy special, titled “Ellen’s Last Stand…Up Tour,” marking the first time she addressed the controversies swirling around her.
