Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to host shiny Rayquaza tera raid event

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of Pokémon adventures under my belt, I must say that the announcement of shiny Rayquaza coming to tera raids is like finding a rare Charizard card in a pack – pure joy! Ever since the days of Hoenn, Rayquaza has held a special place in my heart, and now I can finally add a shiny version to my collection.

Fans of the latest mainline Pokémon game, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, got some exciting news today as The Pokémon Company/ Game Freak/ Nintendo revealed that the coveted shiny Rayquaza will soon be available in Tera Raids. According to the announcement, this event is set to occur from December 19th to January 5th.

It’s been often discussed in the past that such a raid could potentially be introduced at some stage, given the significant role this shimmering legendary plays in the ‘Horizons’ anime. For years, fans have been requesting game features that align more closely with the anime itself, and with the inclusion of a shiny Rayquaza, it appears that these requests are being addressed, to some extent.

As a gamer, I’m super excited because during this upcoming event, Rayquaza, this legendary beast, is going to show up in five-star raids! This means even casual players like me have a chance to catch it. With the event running all through the holiday season, there’s plenty of time for us to grab our very own shiny Rayquaza. The best part? Each of us gets one shiny Rayquaza per save file!

Alongside the radiant legendary from the Hoenn area, a series of widespread events with boosted chances for shinies will occur prior to this event. These widespread incidents will feature Tinkatink, Wooper, Girafarog, and Chansey, each of which will be spotted in various locations within the Paldea region and beyond.

Previously, we’ve seen that tera-raid events have paved the way for such thrilling advancements, making it easier for players to encounter rare Pokémons that typically require extensive grinding. This trend is likely to continue, offering an unforgettable experience as we approach the end of the Scarlet and Violet era, expected to be around 2024, with the anticipated launch of Pokémon Legends ZA scheduled for 2025.
