‘Beast Quest’ Is Becoming a Franchise as an Animated Series and Video Games Are Confirmed to be in Development

As a gamer who’s been around for quite some time, I can tell you that the news of a Beast Quest animated series and video game adaptation has brought a nostalgic smile to my face. I remember devouring those books as a kid, eagerly awaiting each new installment, and now it seems we’re finally getting the big-screen treatment this beloved fantasy series deserves!

If you’re a fan of magical realms or have kids who are, you’ve likely encountered the renowned children’s high fantasy series called “Beast Quest.” Since its debut in 2007, this series has published an impressive total of 180 books (as stated by Variety), making it one of the scarce instances of a fantasy series yet to be transformed into a major production. However, that era is now past!

Specifically, according to Variety, global IP leader Superprod Group and international media company Coolabi Group are partnering to develop a franchise from the well-known book series. This franchise encompasses an animated series along with multiple video games.

In this report, we are going to go over all the known facts about the upcoming project, so if you want to know what you can expect and how the people behind the project are going to handle all of this, please keep reading!

In essence, the Beast Quest collection primarily revolves around the duo, Tom and Elena, as they strive to shield the realm of Avantia from the malevolent sorcerer Malvel. Their escapades encompass a multitude of diverse creatures, which lends the series its title. However, given the expansive nature of the fabricated universe, a considerable number of characters have been introduced throughout the storyline.

Under the pen name Adam Blade, multiple writers have been contributing to the series, a fact that may come as a surprise to many readers. With sales exceeding 25 million copies and translations into thirty languages, the series spanning 180 titles has achieved global success, as reported in the Variety article.

Regarding its developments, it’s currently known that there are three games available (two for mobile devices and one console game), but things look even more promising as a new video game series is being proposed, along with an animated series that will continue the original story of Tom and Elena as they fight Malvel in Avantia.

The animated series is being produced by Superprod, with assistance from studios such as Wheel in Motion (UK), The Coproduction Company (US), Red Monk Studio (Italy), Melusine (Luxembourg) and Superprod Animation (France). This production will blend computer-generated (CG) animation with traditional techniques that viewers can look forward to. To date, 26 half-hour episodes have been commissioned, but a release date has yet to be announced. Alexi Wheeler from Wheel in Motion commented on the series:

For our team, ‘Beast Quest’ signifies a significant milestone. It’s a cherished brand with an abundance of storytelling possibilities. We believe that the upcoming animated series will spark the creativity of a fresh audience, much like the books have done for almost two decades, thanks to its thrilling plot and expansive world filled with fantastical creatures.

Jeremy Banks, CEO of The Coolabi Group, also added:

I am overjoyed that one of our most celebrated and adored book franchises, ‘Beast Quest,’ is now being animated by the talented team at Superprod. Originating from our in-house story department at Working Partners and cherished through every book penned, ‘Beast Quest’ remains a publishing sensation that speaks to children today just as strongly as it did when it debuted nearly twenty years ago. We eagerly anticipate sharing this series on screens and devices globally.
