As an ardent follower of both the royal family and the music scene, I must say this unique collaboration between Prince Harry and Jelly Roll is nothing short of intriguing! The Duke of Sussex, known for his adventurous spirit, has always been a trailblazer, and this tattoo deal with the Save Me singer is yet another testament to that.
In a mutually beneficial transaction, Jelly Roll designed and inked Prince Harry’s initial tattoo, while Prince Harry granted Jelly Roll the opportunity to perform at the closing ceremony of the Invictus Games 2025 as a special guest. Quite a shrewd exchange, Mr. Roll indeed!
On the official Invictus Games account, a social media video was posted, featuring the distant relative of the British monarchy, who was seen in a New York City tattoo studio. The Save Me vocalist, aged 39, later appeared and provided the first-time tattoo for him.
Did you know that when they informed me that Prince Harry planned to get a tattoo today, and asked me to be the one to give him his very first tattoo, I found it hard to believe? That’s what Roll told Harry, leaving him surprised.
After regaining his composure, Harry successfully disputed Roll’s false information, explaining that their meeting was actually about a business proposition— specifically, asking the singer to perform at the Invictus Games, an international sports event designed for wounded, ill, and injured military personnel and veterans.
Starting in February 2025, the seventh installment of the event initiated by the prince will take place in both Vancouver and Whistler. The duration of this occasion is from February 8th through the 16th.
Eventually, after some negotiations, The Spare author agreed to get a tattoo if Roll performed at the specified sporting event, and their conversation subsequently turned to deciding the best location for Prince Harry’s new tattoo.
Roll proposed an alternative, suggesting instead that we aim for the neck area, as opposed to Harry’s ideas about the lower back or posterior region.
“Nobody wants to see your a** Harry,” Roll laughed.
Initially handling the tattoo machine, a somewhat apprehensive Prince Harry inquired whether the performer possessed any tattoo-giving expertise. However, the reply he received did little to alleviate his concerns.
As the painful process of getting the Prince inked began, he cried out in agony, only to be shunned by Roll, who reminded him of his commitment. Then came the big reveal.
It’s fortunate for Prince Harry that his tattoo wasn’t genuine – it read “I Am Jelly Roll.” This tattoo design was symbolic of the Invictus Games logo, representing the core sentiment of William Ernest Henley’s famous poem, Invictus.
The video ended by revealing that Jelly Roll will be the main act at Prince Harry’s Invictus Games event on February 16th, as confirmed on their social media platform. They also shared that the complete list of performers would be unveiled on November 20th.
