The Voice Winner Jason ‘Sundance’ Head Reflects on Survival After Shooting Accident: ‘I Have a Lot of Life Left’

As an ardent fan of Jason ‘Sundance’ Head, I must say that this man’s spirit is truly inspiring. His life experience, filled with trials and triumphs, has molded him into a resilient individual. The recent accident he faced while on his solo hunting adventure was a harrowing ordeal, but the way he handled it, expressing gratitude towards those who helped him, speaks volumes about his character.

As an ardent admirer, I’m eagerly sharing the first-person account of Jason ‘Sundance’ Head, who’s breaking his silence following a mishap at his Texas ranch. His representative, Trey Newman, has verified to People that the victor of The Voice Season 11, was by himself in the forest when the unfortunate incident involving a gun happened around 4:00–4:30 p.m. local time on November 15, a Friday.

On Facebook, Misty Head, Sundance’s wife, posted regular updates about his health condition in the days following. She announced on November 16 that the “Darlin’ Don’t Go” singer, aged 46, had been discharged from the hospital and was now stable at home. In one of her posts, she explained that the journey home wasn’t entirely comfortable due to the road bumps, which caused some turbulence that made him bleed through his bandages.

On Sunday, the 17th of November, Sundance shared a personal statement on Facebook, which he titled “Statement – Part I”.

In a heartfelt message, captured before a beautifully illuminated Christmas tree at his residence, the musician expresses gratitude towards the divine and the healthcare professionals at UT Tyler Hospital who played a crucial role in his recovery from a harrowing ordeal. “I thought I was going to perish,” he went on. “That was one of the most bizarre incidents I’ve ever encountered.

In simpler terms, when asked for further information, Sundance only shared that he had an accidental stomach shooting while he was on his own. Currently, he’s in a better state overall, but he’s still experiencing discomfort due to his injury.

He shared with those present that he still has many years ahead of him, and throughout the entire ordeal, he appreciated everyone’s efforts to save his life. In particular, he expressed deep gratitude towards the first responders, who performed exceptionally well.

In addition, Sundance acknowledged and thanked the good Samaritan who stopped to assist him when he was severely injured on the roadside. He noted that over a dozen vehicles passed by, some even making visual contact yet chose not to stop, but it was this particular stranger whom he credits with saving his life.

He went on to say, “I found myself at the very end, friend, but luck was on my side as two kind men happened to come back. I truly appreciate you, and I’m eternally grateful for our connection at this particular time.

In a manner that suggested it wasn’t mere coincidence, Sundance conveyed his anticipation for further interactions or getting to know the Good Samaritan better in the days ahead.

During the 2016 season of The Voice, a contestant who was part of Blake Shelton’s team expressed gratitude to his supporters for their well-wishes and prayers. He hinted at revealing more details about his journey in the upcoming weeks.

In the year 2007, Sundance made it to the semi-finals on American Idol, but it was later on The Voice where he finally found success.
