DUNE: PROPHECY Deaths: Who Dies in the DUNE Series?

As a seasoned fan of epic fantasies, I can confidently say that HBO’s Dune: Prophecy is shaping up to be a rollercoaster ride of emotions and unexpected twists. With its rich world-building and complex characters, it’s no surprise that death has already made an early appearance in this series.

As a die-hard fan, I can’t help but notice that when it comes to vast, magical realms brimming with treachery and strife, death is an inevitable part of the story. And let’s face it, HBO’s Dune: Prophecy isn’t likely to buck this trend. With rivalry among the Great Houses, conflict between the Imperium and the Sisterhood, internal struggles within the Sisterhood itself, and potential adversaries yet unknown to them, there’s no shortage of animosity. To keep tabs on the unfortunate demises of our beloved new characters, I plan to maintain a regularly updated list of deaths on Dune: Prophecy. You can take a look at the list of casualties thus far below.

Dune: Prophecy Episode One Deaths

Here’s who died in Dune: Prophecy‘s first episode.

Mother Superior Raquella Shares a Prophecy Before Her Dune Death

Mother Superior Raquella established the Sisterhood of Dune and took part in conflicts against artificial intelligence. She developed and nurtured the psychic abilities unique to the Sisterhood, which she believed could influence human leadership. Passionate about Dune’s genetic database, Mother Superior Raquella aimed to place a Sister on the throne of the Empire for greater control over mankind’s choices. Before her passing (Dune: Prophecy), Mother Superior Raquella warned Valya Harkonnen about a chilling prophecy she had foreseen – one that foretold impending disaster, known as Arafel or doom, coming to the world. Sadly, upon her demise, Mother Superior Raquella left behind a divided Sisterhood, with some sisters supporting Valya’s power grab and others siding with her daughter Dorotea.

Dorotea Crossed Valya in Dune: Prophecy and So She Had to Die

Dorotea aimed to preserve the Sisterhood’s spiritual purity, ensuring it maintained its distinct identity without meddling in the Imperium’s business. This stance led to disagreements with Valya. Following her mother’s demise, Dorotea aimed to erase the genetic archive depicted in ‘Dune: Prophecy’. Unfortunately for Dorotea, Valya secretly augmented her powers and developed a command known as The Voice, powerful within the universe of ‘Dune’. When Dorotea resisted submission, Valya commanded Dorotea to take her own life. Eventually, under Valya’s influence, Dorotea stabbed herself in the neck at the close of ‘Dune: Prophecy’, leading to her tragic death.

Pruit Richese Burns to Death From the Inside Out

In the series “Dune: Prophecy”, it was expected that the unpopular heir of the Richese House, Pruit Richese, would marry Princess Ynez Corrino to secure a political alliance. However, in the first episode’s dramatic turn of events, Pruit met an untimely death, orchestrated by Desmond Hart. Desmond, it appears, harnessed some unknown power, possibly derived from a sandworm on Arrakis, to destroy Pruit from within. Although we are cautious about Desmond’s frightening abilities, we can’t say we mourn the loss of Pruit Richese. It will be intriguing to explore how his fascination with thinking machines may have played a role in his demise on “Dune: Prophecy”.

The Emperor’s Truthsayer Reverend Mother Kasha Also Dies by Fire in Dune: Prophecy

We found a deep affection for Sister Kasha, the Reverend Mother. She displayed a touching bond with Ynez, and was hesitant about Ynez marrying Pruit Richese as per Valya’s claims about the genetic archive. Unfortunately, this did not protect her from Desmond Hart’s deadly plot. It’s astonishing that Desmond managed to orchestrate Sister Kasha’s death remotely, but it seemed she met a fiery end similar to Pruit Richese in the first episode of ‘Dune: Prophecy’.

It seems no one is safe.
