As a lifelong Disney enthusiast who’s been following this project since its inception, I must say I’m finding it hard to be enchanted by the current state of affairs surrounding Snow White. It seems like every time I look at that beautiful picture of Rachel Zegler as Snow White, I’m met with a fresh wave of controversy instead of the magic and wonder I’ve come to expect from Disney.

Next year will see the release of Disney’s Snow White, but what was once a much-anticipated project has evolved into the potential biggest controversy of 2025 before the year has even begun. The production process has been marred by numerous problems, and one controversy follows another, with no signs of abating.

More recently, actress Rachel Zegler found herself in a contentious situation following her post-election remarks, necessitating an apology from her. These comments triggered another public relations predicament for Disney, despite the corporation being perceived as leaning towards democratic politics. As a result, damage control strategies were implemented.

In light of recent reports by Forbes, it appears that the film’s production costs have skyrocketed, making it imperative for the movie to be successful due to its exorbitant budget. However, given the current circumstances, it seems extremely improbable that this will happen.

Initially, let’s discuss the PR predicament that arose following the events. The contentious U.S. Presidential election has been a topic of much debate. One voice among the critics was Zegler, who, as we shall find, felt disheartened by the outcome and chose to express her feelings on social media platforms.

Overwhelmed by silence, I’m struggling to find words as we face another four years of intolerance, pushing us towards a reality I detest. A future that seems daunting for me and especially challenging to nurture my daughter in. A future where she may be compelled to bear a child unwillingly. A future that breeds fear rather than hope.

I shouldn’t be this shocked. But I am. I am heartbroken for my friends who awoke fear this morning. And I am here with you. To cry, to yell, to hug. To was poetic on how the left continues to fail us in forging a new path forward. This loss should not have been. And it certainly should not have been by so many votes.

Among all things, I strongly resonate with Ethel Cain’s sentiment. I wish that neither Trump supporters, Trump voters, nor Donald Trump himself may experience the tranquility they desire.

In addition, there’s a profound, pervasive illness in this nation that became evident by the massive turnout for an individual who jeopardizes our democracy. It’s alarming to witness the number of people who endorse his ideologies. This loyalty represents a misguided belief in a fabricated safety, power, masculinity, intelligence, patriotism, and compassion.

In none of them can I find assistance or guidance. I might continue, but I won’t. It makes me feel melancholic, and I imagine it does the same to you. This situation is frustrating.

Regardless of ideology, you can imagine this becoming a major PR scandal for Disney, and in order to calm things down, Zegler issued a public apology on her official Instagram account, stating the following:

Hello all, I’d like to genuinely express my regret over the election post I recently shared on Instagram. My feelings took control, leading me to share something that unfortunately added to the unfavorable discussion. It is clear that hatred and anger have been pushing us apart, moving us further from harmony and understanding. I am truly sorry for my part in this.

It’s undoubtedly beneficial for progress from here on out, but we’ve also mentioned that Forbes disclosed the budget of her upcoming film has increased significantly to an astounding $269.4 million. Consequently, the movie must generate revenues exceeding $500 million to be deemed profitable.

Given these circumstances, the film’s production team and everyone involved are under immense pressure, making it quite probable that the movie may not meet its projected numbers. Consequently, Disney should brace themselves for a potential loss in this case. While there’s always a chance the film could exceed expectations, considering all the controversies surrounding it, it seems unlikely.
