Originally, Gomez expressed her admiration for the actress from “The Devil Wears Prada” when she started working alongside her, mostly watching from afar without much interaction. Now, however, she’s complimenting the seasoned actress on her impressive professionalism and dedication to her craft.
In an interview with Elle, Gomez shared his recollection of working alongside Meryl Streep on set. He described trying to capture her side so she could leave and rest for the following day. However, as the day was wrapping up, he said she asked, “Why aren’t we turning around?” To which they replied, “We’ll do that tomorrow.” But instead of going home, Streep insisted, saying, “I must come in; I should be there for them,” indicating her dedication to her team.
She called Streep’s concern for others “elegant” and revealed that it was then when she understood the legend’s deep admiration and dedication to her profession.

Seeing Streep, who plays Broadway star Loretta Durkin in OMITB, was particularly memorable for Gomez. She called it a favorite moment from her time on the show. Watching Streep perform a cappella on stage moved Gomez to tears. Though she wasn’t in the scene, the Calm Down singer said she was completely rapt seeing Meryl do her job.
