‘Star Trek’ Officially Introduces Its Most Horrible Iteration of Deep Space 9

As a seasoned Trekkie with decades of starfleet service under my belt, I can confidently say that Star Trek: Lower Decks has certainly taken the franchise to new and unexpected places. While Deep Space 9 is undeniably a treasured gem in the Trek universe, I must admit that Starbase 80 left me with a bitter taste in my mouth – or perhaps it was just the replicated food.


Despite numerous outstanding science fiction works throughout history, it’s often argued that “Star Trek” stands as the most exceptional sci-fi series ever created. In any debate about superiority, fans of this franchise are quick to present compelling reasons why their beloved series is undeniably the best among its peers.

It’s indisputable that Star Trek serves as a pillar in today’s science fiction landscape, pushing boundaries within the genre in numerous ways. Surprisingly resilient, the series remains vibrant and generates fresh content across multiple platforms.

Unfortunately for the crew of the USS Cerritos, who are currently addressing temporal anomalies, a malfunction led them there against their will. Given its shabby appearance and unwelcoming atmosphere, it’s no surprise that Starbase 80 has earned a reputation as an undesirable posting.

Despite initial reservations, it wasn’t as terrible as anticipated. Commander Kassia Nox, surprisingly friendly and warm, even managed to prepare a decent meal for the crew. Though prejudices persisted, the change in impression didn’t alter their decision not to wish for long-term assignment there.
