As a long-time Marvel fan who’s seen more than a few projects come and go, I can’t help but feel a glimmer of hope when it comes to Nova. The fact that Brad Winderbaum himself has confirmed its unique tonality and progress beyond early development is music to my ears. While I’ve learned not to get too attached before the ink dries on the contracts, the idea of a Nova series, especially focusing on Sam Alexander, feels like a breath of fresh air in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
As a dedicated gamer, I can’t help but feel thrilled as Marvel Studios continues to churn out exciting projects, introducing both familiar faces from the comics and lesser-known characters that are sure to captivate us. Contrary to what Kevin Feige and Brad Winderbaum have hinted about a potential slowdown in production, it seems like we’re still in for an action-packed 2-3 movies and 2-2.5 live-action shows each year!
One confirmed project, Nova, has been in development for years. It was first planned as a series, then changed to a movie, and now it appears to be returning to its original plan as a series.
Approximately half a year ago, the head of Marvel Television announced intentions for a live-action Nova series. Yet, he also warned that being in the initial development stage does not guarantee its eventual realization, as new studio regulations may intervene.
Lately, Winderbaum made an appearance on the “Phase Hero” podcast, where he offered some encouraging news. It appears that the program has surpassed its early stages of development and is steadily advancing.
The project is currently being worked on, as we discussed at D23. We’re focusing more on development than production right now, so it’s like something simmering in a pot. There’s a lot to look forward to, and what I’ve seen so far is very encouraging. I can definitely say that!
Especially like tonally. The vibe of that show is very unique and very cool.

While the show isn’t fully confirmed yet, it’s clear that it hasn’t been canceled either.
According to recent whispers, it seems the series might shift its emphasis towards Sam Alexander’s Nova character, rather than Richard Rider. Furthermore, these rumblings hint at a potential start of filming as early as next year.
