As a die-hard Marvel fan with a heart full of nostalgia, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement whenever I think about Channing Tatum and Ryan Reynolds. Their dynamic onscreen chemistry as Gambit and Deadpool in Deadpool & Wolverine is nothing short of magical. I still remember the first time I watched that movie; it was like a dream come true for me, a perfect blend of action, humor, and superhero lore.
In the film Deadpool & Wolverine, the two performers shared the screen, with Channing Tatum realizing a lifelong ambition by portraying the X-Men character, Gambit.
In another post, Tatum stated, “Additionally, this agreement is legally binding,” and affectionately referred to Reynolds as “the greatest person alive.” To emphasize his enthusiasm, he attached a humorous ‘Actual Facts’ meme.
Reynolds’ initial statement was shared on September 7 via a Marvel fan account, MCU.Portal, on Instagram. In the quote, Reynolds said, “When he makes a Gambit movie, I’ll return the favor. If he needs a Deadpool, I can do that. Someone to provide fresh orange slices to the crew, no problem. Name it.”
Fans were thrilled when they learned that Reynolds, who not only acted in Deadpool and Wolverine but also wrote and produced them, approved of Tatum’s portrayal of Gambit. Reynolds later commended Tatum’s performance, stating it demonstrated the character’s promise within the Marvel universe.
During a recent conversation on Entertainment Weekly’s Awardist podcast, Reynolds praised Channing Tatum’s performance as Gambit, saying, “I suspect there’s something magical happening in the financial meetings at Marvel, because I know they’re absolutely enamored with him for this role.” He drew parallels between Tatum’s experience and his own journey with Deadpool.
Channing stands out uniquely in his portrayal of that role, as Ryan pointed out. He’s not only aesthetically pleasing but also graceful in his movements, and exceptionally skilled at learning dance routines.
Although no definitive news has been released about a standalone Gambit film, it appears that both actors are open to potential future partnerships. In the meantime, Tatum’s upcoming project, Alpha Gang, will feature him sharing the screen with his ex-fiancée Zoë Kravitz, as well as Cate Blanchett and others.
Regarding the recent separation, Tatum and Kravitz remain involved in joint professional endeavors. According to an insider, they look forward to a fresh collaboration on an upcoming project. The source added that Channing holds high regard for Zoë’s dedication and enthusiasm.
Audience members have the chance to watch again the acting duo of Tatum and Reynolds in Deadpool and Wolverine, which are now streamable on Disney+. Regardless if a Gambit and Deadpool partnership will materialize, the actors’ friendship still sparks anticipation among Marvel enthusiasts.
