As a gamer with a soft spot for superheroes and a keen eye for talent, I can’t help but root for Rhenzy Feliz to don the spider-suit and bring Miles Morales to life on the big screen. His passion for the role is palpable, and his experience playing characters that navigate complex moral landscapes in shows like “The Penguin” and “Runaways” makes him an excellent candidate.
Recently, “The Penguin” concluded its run and garnered fantastic feedback from both critics and audiences alike. A significant portion of this acclaim is directed towards Colin Farrell’s outstanding portrayal of Oz Cobb, as well as the robust ensemble that backed him up.
Prominently featured in the series is Rhenzy Feliz, portraying Victor Aguilar. Unfortunately, Vic’s journey began with a heart-wrenching start and concluded on a sad note. Despite many viewers anticipating Vic to transform into a villain, this week’s episode confirmed that such a development won’t occur.
Despite wrapping up his tenure in the Batman Epic Crime Saga Universe, Rhenzy Feliz is far from done exploring superhero characters.
Previously, Feliz starred in the Marvel series “Runaways,” portraying Alex Wilder. In this series, his role was one of a teenage character who discovers that his parents are part of a sinister group, and subsequently teams up with others to combat their evil activities.
In a recent interview with Kristian Harloff, Feliz shared once again that he’d love to play a live-action version of Miles Morales.
Since I first watched the animation, I’ve often made the comparison. When the film premiered, I recall watching it in awe, exclaiming “Holy smokes!”, and my friend giving me a puzzled look, saying ‘Dude, what… It looks just like you.’ I was around 18 or 19 at the time, and I thought to myself, ‘If only we could make this movie, that would be amazing!’
Despite his eagerness, Feliz worries whether he’d still qualify for the part due to his age. He fears that by the time the character is ready for casting, he might appear too old if they intend for Miles to remain a young teenager. However, if the character were reimagined as a college-aged Miles, Feliz would be thrilled to play the role.
As I grow older, I’m unsure if they will prefer a young actor for the role of Miles Morales. Pondering about the future, will I appear too old in three movies from now? Four or five years down the line, might I look even more aged… To address this question, I must admit, I would be thrilled to portray such a character. I think he is extraordinary and the opportunity to bring him to life would be incredibly exhilarating.
It’s uncertain if by then I’ll still be eligible, as I might have grown too old for the role. No matter what the scenario is, making Miles a fifteen-year-old character would pose challenges. If they’re okay with him being an older, college-aged character, that would work out well.
