Toddlers & Tiaras Alums Reveal About Disturbing Death Threats And Eating Issues Following Show’s Airing

As an ardent fan who has followed TLC’s Toddlers & Tiara since its inception, I must say it’s disheartening to learn about the harrowing experiences of the show’s stars post their stint on the reality series. The fact that these talented and resilient individuals had to face death threats, cyberbullying, and food issues is truly appalling.

During the broadcast of reality shows, it’s not uncommon to hear stories about the stars facing various threats, and TLC’s Toddlers & Tiaras was no exception to this pattern. After the series ended, its former cast members shared their experiences of receiving concerning threats and discussed the health-related challenges they encountered following the show’s debut.

In an episode of Vice’s “Dark Side of Reality TV” that aired on Tuesday, several stars shared their personal experiences. One of them was Kelly Lyerly, a pageant mom who appeared on the show in 2012 and 2013 with her daughters, Alycesaundra and Giavanna Lyerly (known as the “Taira Twins”). She discussed receiving threatening messages for a prolonged period.

In simpler terms, Lyerly mentioned that others often told her they believed her kids would resent her, called her an inadequate parent, and accused her of taking advantage of her own children.

From 2009 to 2013, this show aired, but it didn’t end there; it was brought back in 2016 for just one season, which reignited interest in it once more.

She mentioned that she’s been given another death threat. This time, someone phoned her directly and warned that they intended to harm her.

Darci McHenry stated that social media was indeed the primary issue during her appearance on the show alongside her daughter, Devin. It seems that Devin’s cheetah-themed body paint from the series became incredibly popular online and gained significant attention.

McHenry disclosed she had received private communications on Devin’s fan platforms. She discussed encountering content such as videos, which led to them getting some rather unsettling messages.

She stated, “The remarks grew increasingly outrageous. For instance, comments from fully-grown males such as ‘Wow, check out that attractive individual!’ These are the ones I typically block.” McHenry revealed this.

She mentioned that she wouldn’t watch a video of someone having fun instead of her daughter’s image, as she doesn’t want to see such joyful moments. It’s unnecessary for her to witness it.

On the TLC show, EverRose Sims shared that it frequently focused on her weight as a child, an aspect that had a negative impact on her.

In their shoot, they closely tracked and recorded everything that EverRose, Kayla Sims’ daughter, put into her mouth. This aspect of her being on a diet became the focus of the narrative, but it had negative consequences for her.

EverRose confided that she had a positive connection with food. She admitted to concealing her food choices so others wouldn’t suspect her dietary habits.

As a grown woman, she admitted that she finds it challenging to eat in the presence of others due to self-consciousness. Since then, she has had ongoing issues with her food consumption.

Wendy Dickey, a former pageant mom, conveyed her belief that TLC exploited her family for promoting their show, Toddlers & Tiaras. She further stated that the program propagated certain agendas and was linked to negative media portrayals. Similar sentiments were allegedly shared by other former participants.
