Based on a report by Variety, Signature Entertainment has obtained the distribution rights for the eagerly awaited thriller ‘The Absence of Eden,’ featuring Zoe Saldaña and produced by Martin Scorsese.
Under this agreement, we cover regions such as the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Africa. The movie stars Garrett Hedlund and Adria Arjona in key roles.
Under the guidance of first-time director Marco Perego, ‘The Absence of Eden’ unfolds a tense narrative revolving around an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent and an undocumented female character, as they engage in a fierce struggle against a merciless cartel.
In a more simplified version, Hedlund takes on the role of the conflicted character, whereas Saldaña embodies the woman trying to escape the grasp of the cartel.
The script, jointly penned by Perego and Rick Rapoza, has been acknowledged by the AMPAS Library as worthy to be part of their everlasting essential collection.
This project features well-known producers like Julie Yorn, who was nominated for an Oscar, as well as Alexandra Milchan, in conjunction with a group of seasoned producers from Pioneer Pictures.
Alongside Cisely, Mariel, and Zoe Saldaña’s Cinestar Pictures, as well as several other investors, Scorsese is serving as one of the project’s key producers for the movie.
