After his successful movie “Horizon,” it seemed undeniable that Costner wouldn’t rejoin the series. Yet, with John Dutton being the central figure in the show, there was a lingering curiosity about where his character would go next.
Once that initial episode of Season 5’s second half unfurled, it shattered our hearts as secrets were laid bare, leaving countless fans like me in a state of shock.
In the most recent Yellowstone series installment, viewers discovered that John Dutton, the family’s head, succumbed to a lethal gunshot injury.
In the enigmatic confines of the Montana Governor’s mansion’s bathroom, where an eerie incident unfolded, the Dutton clan continues to baffle me, shrouded in mystery. The official report claims John Dutton took his own life, but as a die-hard fan, I can’t help but question the truth behind this statement.
Despite the show confirming that Dutton’s character had perished, as a bloody old man’s body was shown, there was no sign of Kevin Costner in the scene.
As an ardent admirer, I can’t help but express my excitement as the episode unfolds, revealing a heart-pounding moment when John’s children, portrayed by the talented Kelly Reilly and Luke Grimes, swiftly dash over, sensing their father is running late for the inaugural day of his impeachment hearing.
Although Beth suspects that Jamie, portrayed by Wes Bentley, was involved in John’s demise due to his opportunistic nature as a son, Kayce remains skeptical that Jamie played any role in the incident.
In the most recent installment, it’s revealed that Sarah Atwood, a market Equities advisor and the individual who attempted to undermine John’s governance, enlisted a hitman to make it appear as if her death was a suicide, rather than an actual murder. This is depicted through a flashback sequence.
Kevin Costner has been a part of the Yellowstone family since the inception of this series.
Yet, whispers arose suggesting that Costner might leave the show, due to concerns that filming for Yellowstone could conflict with his schedule for the Horizon movie series.
Speculation about Kevin Costner’s absence from the show started when the first half of Season 5 premiered in February 2023, and by June of the same year, it was indeed confirmed that he wouldn’t reappear on the show.
