Sebastian Stan Reveals His Dream MCU Prequels and the Characters He’d Love to Bring Back

As a seasoned gamer and long-time Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) enthusiast, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement upon hearing Sebastian Stan‘s thoughts about potential MCU prequels. The prospect of delving deeper into the backstories of my favorite characters is truly tantalizing.

One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films set for release next year is titled “Thunderbolts.” Fans are eagerly anticipating this movie as it introduces a fresh group of unconventional characters reminiscent of DC’s “Suicide Squad” to the MCU.

As a die-hard Marvel fan, I can’t contain my excitement about this upcoming movie! Not only does it promise to introduce one of Marvel’s mightiest heroes – Sentry – but it also brings back some beloved characters from the MCU’s past. Among them is Sebastian Stan, who plays Bucky Barnes, aka the Winter Soldier, a fan-adored figure in our community.

At Comic-Con Liverpool, Sebastian Stan recently shared his thoughts on various subjects, such as potential Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) prequels he’s interested in creating and a beloved character he hopes to resurrect within the MCU.

During a question-and-answer session with fans, Stan was queried about potential prequels he’d like to produce if given the chance to expand the MCU narrative. He offered two suggestions: one centered around the bond between Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes before Captain America: The First Avenger, and another delving into the backstory of the Winter Soldier, particularly his time mentoring Black Widow.

Perhaps we might benefit from a prequel to ‘Captain America: The First Avenger’, which could offer insights into their friendship and relationship – something that would be fascinating to explore further.

The Winter Soldier’, delving into the events that unfolded during the time when Steve Rogers (Captain America) had his other identity, possibly training figures like Black Widow. This period in his life has not been extensively explored, as we mostly find him towards the conclusion of his Winter Soldier storyline.

I mean it might be interesting to see, again if you guys are interested, we’ll see.

The next question was about the Thunderbolts* trailer. In one scene, Bucky is shown pulling his vibranium arm out of a dishwasher. Stan went on to explain how this moment came about:

It seems to me that Bucky might have had an epiphany regarding the dishwasher one day, thinking something along the lines of “why not? It’s quite logical.” Initially, I found this amusing in the script. However, it does provide a convenient solution at the end of the day – simply pop in any remaining dishes and items, so I believe it was his innovative thought.

One intriguing query revolved around which characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) Stan might prefer to reintroduce. Laughingly, he hinted that no character ever really departs from the MCU, but he expressed a wish to reinstate Steve and Natasha.

As a die-hard fan, I’m yearning to see Steve Rogers return. It would certainly add an exciting twist! And let’s not forget Natasha. With nearly 27 films left untouched in her storyline, I can’t help but hope for more adventures with her too.

It’s easy to see why Stan would want characters connected to his story to return. But since Sam Wilson is now Captain America and Yelena Belova is the new Black Widow, their return might only make sense in prequels.
