Mattel Accidentally Puts NSFW Website Link On Wicked Toys Packaging; Find Out More

As a lifestyle expert with decades of experience in the industry, I have seen countless instances of companies making simple mistakes that can have significant consequences. In this case, Mattel, a reputable company known for its iconic toys, has printed the wrong URL on the packaging of its Wicked dolls, leading unsuspecting parents to NSFW content.

Mattel, the manufacturer of Elphaba and Glinda dolls from the movie Wicked, has unintentionally placed the incorrect web address on the back of their packaging for some toys.

Reports indicate that this URL isn’t merely inaccurate and could lead users to a 404 error page, but rather, it inadvertently guides parents to an adult content website, causing outrage among them.

Mattel is a widely recognized, esteemed manufacturer of toys, particularly known for its vast collection of toys that span across various categories like die-cast vehicles such as Hot Wheels, among others.

On this occasion, they have introduced dolls featuring the two characters portrayed by Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, derived from the film adaptation of the same-titled Broadway musical.

Instead, the website address on the doll packaging’s label, as reported by TMZ, was incorrectly listed as “www.wicked.com.

People who bought toys for their kids expected to see the entire range of products on the site. However, they ended up getting directed towards an adult content website instead, unfortunately.

Just a heads up, if you’re looking for the official toy catalog from the movie on Mattel’s site, it’s actually found at www.wickedmovie.com, not any other URL.

Despite a minor error, it’s led to a substantial problem, with worried parents voicing their concerns on the internet.

In reply, a Mattel spokesperson informed the media outlet that they are cognizant of the error found on the Wicked dolls, which have been predominantly marketed in the U.S.

The representative went on to explain that the company apologizes for the mistake and is making necessary adjustments to prevent similar inaccurate URLs from appearing on the backs of any upcoming toys.

The company suggests that parents throw away the product packaging or cover up any identifying links. Additionally, they encourage parents with additional questions to contact Mattel’s customer service department for more information.

Speaking from a passionate fan’s perspective, I find myself captivated by this cinematic masterpiece that brings together two remarkable icons, the talented lady behind “We Can’t Be Friends” as the enchanting Glinda, and the inimitable Cynthia Erivo embodying Elphaba.

Should these two names pique your curiosity, the ensemble also includes acting legends like Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, and Peter Dinklage.

Wicked will be out on November 22, 2024.
