As a lifestyle expert with years of experience in the entertainment industry, I must say that the release of Joker: Folie à Deux has left me rather perplexed and somewhat saddened. Having followed the career of Tim Dillon, who portrayed Arkham Asylum’s prison guard in the project, it is disheartening to hear him label the movie as “the worst film ever made.
Upon its release, audiences who had anticipated Joker: Folie a Deux highly criticized the film across various online platforms. Interestingly, one of the actors involved, Tim Dillon, who plays the role of Arkham Asylum’s prison guard in the project, admitted that even the cast were aware that the movie was not successful.
On Joe Rogan’s podcast, Dillion shared his thoughts on the disappointing outcome of the Joker’s sequel. He described it as one of the “most poorly executed films” he had ever encountered. Dillon and comedian Rogan believe that the negative reception towards its initial installment may have contributed to its underperformance.
Based on Dillon’s explanation, it seems that filmmakers chose to have Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga tap dance in their movie because they didn’t appreciate their initial part receiving criticism for depicting male anger and gaining popularity among individuals often referred to as “incels.” Instead, they opted to introduce an unusual element like tap dancing to create a more appealing narrative.
Dillon expressed to Rogan that he and the other actors in the project had doubts about the storyline’s development. They voiced their concerns, saying something like “Is there a plot here? What’s going on with the story?” They felt it might not turn out well.
Contrasting with the first film (released in 2019 and earning over $1 billion globally), its follow-up managed to rake in around USD 200 million worldwide. However, it garnered a rather disappointing 32% score on Rotten Tomatoes based on reviews.
2019’s released movie excelled in all aspects, from its compelling storyline to outstanding performances, stunning costumes, and impressive set designs. Audience members adored every element of it, and it even earned Phoenix his initial Academy Award.
As a devoted follower, I couldn’t help but feel an overwhelming sense of anticipation when the global acclaim for the first movie paved the way for its sequel. The excitement only intensified with the announcement that Lady Gaga would bring Harley Quinn to life on screen, which sent ripples of enthusiasm through social media.
However, the audience found the plotline lackluster, as evidenced by their candid feedback expressed across various social media outlets.
Beyond just Phoenix, Lady Gaga, and the dynamic trio, this captivating venture also featured Zazie Beetz, Harry Lawtey, Jacon Lofland, Brendan Gleeson, Steve Coogan, Catherine Keener, Ken leung, Leigh Gill, and a host of other remarkable talents. I can’t wait to see them all shine!
