Should youp pull for Kokona/Rumi/Mina/Shun Rerun Banners

Introduction

As a seasoned player of this thrilling game, I can confidently say that each character offers unique strengths and weaknesses, making them invaluable additions to any team. Let’s delve into the merits and drawbacks of our three 3-star Explosive Striker candidates: Shun, Mina, and Kaede.

After the past week’s hiatus, our screens are filled with replay advertisements featuring Kokona, Rumi, Mina, and Shun. This piece aims to provide a quick summary on whether it’s worth summoning these characters and if there have been any updates since their initial release.

Kokona Overview

Kokona serves as a Permanent 3-star Explosive Striker Student, making her one of the rare Striker healers within the game. Upon release, Kokona quickly rose to become one of the top healers and maintains high usage scores in Hieronymus, with this trend persisting even in the most recent JP Indoors Chesed (March 2024). Beyond her healing prowess, she also excels as a versatile healer in raids where her armor type isn’t disadvantaged.

In simpler terms, during battles, Kokona’s EX Ability heals one teammate while also restoring her own health and earning a Stamp of Praise. A key part of Kokona’s abilities is her Basic Ability, which triggers when allies have inflicted 100 critical hits. This ability heals the ally with the least health and earns another stack of Stamp of Praise. Once Kokona collects 5 stacks of Stamp of Praise, she activates her Sub Ability, reducing the cost of teammates’ EX Abilities by one, except for her own. This mix of affordable single-target healing and cost reduction has made Kokona a valuable choice in almost any raid. Her abilities become particularly effective during the Fury of Set, where Auto Attackers frequently attack, thus activating Kokona’s Basic and Sub Abilities more often.

Given that we’ve established what benefits Kokona offers to the team, should she be considered worth acquiring? However, if Kokona happens to be your preferred student, let this analysis not deter you from procuring her. After all, it’s your game and your decision to make regarding your account.

In deciding whether to utilize Kokona’s banner, consider your team composition or if you aim for high scores or deep runs in Fury of Set. In recent Hieronymus runs (JP, February 2024 for Tactical Assault and June 2024 for Grand Assault), it was common to see Kokona on nearly every successful team due to her excellent single-target healing and cost reduction abilities, which were crucial for swift clearance. Additionally, Kokona excels in Fury of Se. Since your team will likely include multiple auto-attackers, they’ll consistently activate Kokona’s basic skill, subsequently triggering her sub skill, saving you several skill points.

Rumi Overview

Rumi is a top-tier persistent Striker student who stands out for her role as a Striker healer, similar to Koharu, Kokona, and Mari (Track). As a rarity 3 character, she brings inherent worth to the table due to the scarcity of Striker healers. Notably, Rumi is the first Striker healer capable of removing debuffs from her allies, making her an attractive choice against Perorodzilla. Her EX skill distributes healing among four allies and has the unique ability to clear a debuff on the first and fourth targets. However, it can be challenging to predict where her EX skill bounces, which may make the second debuff removal unpredictable in terms of landing location. A specific point worth noting is that while the first hit guarantees the removal of a debuff from one student of your choice, the bounce pattern of the EX skill may make the subsequent debuff clearing less reliable.

Given that we understand Rumi’s contributions to the team, should we consider bringing her onto our side? If she happens to be your preferred team member, let nothing dissuade you from making that choice. After all, the decision ultimately rests with you and your gaming experience.

If you’re finding it hard to get a Striker healer or want to take on Perorodzilla without Natsu, opting for Rumi might not be the worst choice. However, keep in mind that while her healing isn’t exceptional, she does excel at cleansing debuffs on allies and can be effective against Perorodzilla. Unfortunately, you may already have Mari or Chinatsu, both of which are low-rarity alternatives. If you urgently need another Striker healer, Koharu is a viable option that you can acquire using Total Assault Coins. In summary, Rumi is a decent unit but not essential enough to be a priority pull, especially considering upcoming banners such as S.Izuna, S.Shiroko, T.Shiroko, and B.Hoshino.

Mina Overview

Mina is a permanent student who specializes in explosive striking, excelling particularly at inflicting debuffs and serving as a secondary damage dealer when her basic and EX skills are combined. She truly outshines during encounters with Gregorius, an emerging Total Assault boss whose strategy revolves around the variety of status effects inflicted upon him. Her EX ability not only causes harm to one opponent but also reduces their Attack, Evasion, and Accuracy by three levels each. This complements her basic skill perfectly, as it damages a single enemy and becomes more potent with the number of debuffs an enemy already has.

As a gamer, I’ve found that Mina can only apply 3 debuffs on her own, which is the least she needs to boost her Basic attack. To reach the maximum potential of 5 debuffs, I’ll need backup from fellow debuffing allies since she falls short. Unfortunately, Mina is up against a lot of explosive Striker students who are already out there, many of whom offer extra perks that Mina doesn’t, like Azusa who can debuff Defense.

Despite this, Mina’s debuffs play a crucial role in reducing the danger posed by an opponent, particularly when the survival of your team could be at stake. Her debuffs can tip the balance between winning and a complete team defeat.

Given that we understand Mina’s contributions to the team, should she be targeted for acquisition? To put it another way, if Mina is your preferred character, let this information serve as a suggestion rather than a rule. Ultimately, the decision is yours based on your personal preference and gaming strategy.

If your focus is on handling Gregorius, particularly in the context of Torment, then yes, Mina can be useful. However, if you have numerous single-target Explosive Striker students at your disposal who might be more convenient to elevate, then no.

Shun Overview

Shun is a constant 3-star student classified as an Explosive Striker, primarily utilized in Player versus Player (PvP) for cost support and backline assaults. Her EX Skill boosts her effective attack range by 24.4% and focuses on attacking enemies with the highest attack power. With significant investment in PvP, Shun produces 3.8 skill points, granting your team a 9-second advantage in cost generation. She can also directly strike at the enemy team’s damage dealers, potentially ending fights swiftly. In situations outside of PvP, Shun functions primarily as a cost support for retreat teams to use her EX Skill and concede. If you need a damage dealer in Kaiten, Shun could serve as a suitable substitute, although there are typically better options available.

Given that we understand the value Shun brings to the team, should she be a character you aim to acquire? If Shun happens to be your preferred student, then let nothing deter you from making the decision to obtain her. Remember, it’s your game and ultimately your choice.

Generally speaking, No. Currently, Shun is predominantly utilized in Player versus Player (PvP) scenarios. For novice players, it’s crucial not to prioritize PvP as your primary focus. It yields minimal Pyroxenes and necessitates particular team compositions for optimal performance.
