Was Nicolas Cage Offered A Cameo In Deadpool & Wolverine As Ghost Rider? Find Out As Cast Members Spill The Beans

As a die-hard Marvel fan who has witnessed the incredible cinematic journey of these iconic characters, I can’t help but feel both thrilled and disappointed at the same time by the revelation of Nicholas Cage turning down a cameo as Ghost Rider in Deadpool & Wolverine. The thought of Cage embodying that fiery spirit once again was a dream come true for me, but alas, it wasn’t meant to be.

In a straightforward conversation, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman discussed their upcoming Marvel film, hinting that they had extended an offer to Nicolas Cage to appear as his well-known character, Ghost Rider.

Shawn Levy, Reynolds, and Jackman were interviewed together on Entertainment Weekly’s Awards podcast. During the discussion, they revealed that when they were working on the initial scripts for the movie, there had been discussions about Ben Affleck and Nicolas Cage potentially joining the Marvel project.

In their movie outings, Deadpool and Wolverine featured brief but memorable appearances by renowned characters including:

Regarding Cage and Affleck, Reynolds mentioned that they were initially included in earlier drafts of the script. He also disclosed that there were versions of a particular sequence involving them, but as things progressed, they found themselves looking for alternatives. In an effort to ensure responsible filmmaking with such a large budget, they aimed to restrict their options, which, according to Reynolds, often fosters unconventional thinking and creativity.

Actor Ryan Reynolds shared that the team behind Green Lantern had suggested a cameo role for Nicolas Cage in the film, hoping he would accept, but Cage declined the invitation. Despite this, Reynolds expressed his wish, saying, “I would have loved to see him [Cage] in it.

Additionally, in the discussion, director Shawn Levy mentioned that it was fortunate they received many affirmative responses. This was mainly due to Ryan’s habit of reaching out to people personally. Often, he would surprise them with a spontaneous call on FaceTime, placing them on the spot.

In my latest adventure, I’ve stepped back into the flames as the Ghost Rider, this time in a thrilling alternate universe alongside Super-Man. This exhilarating journey was masterfully guided by none other than Andy Muschietti, the talented director of The Flash.

Simultaneously, it’s been confirmed that Deadpool & Wolverine have become a box office smash, raking in a staggering $1.335 billion worldwide.

The movie saw Hugh Jackman return as Wolverine for the first time since the 2009 film Logan. As for the Marvel film, Deadpool and Wolverine teamed up to fight the evil of Cassandra Nova, played by Emma Corrin.

The movie is available to stream on Disney+.
